Hey angels,

I was chatting with a friend last week about how I sometimes feel a little like a fraud these days - I’m writing & creating content about wellness while my own day-to-day reality sometimes feels anything but. She reminded me that it's this reality that most of us live. As high-performing women, with biiiig goals and lives, we simply don't have time for the routines we see on our feeds, with 13921 products and steps that even as a Wellness Editor (who knows their intent is performative and to create viral content) still makes me feel like I’m not doing enough

Ultimately we will never arrive at a state of complete “wellness”, and I find it’s helpful to remind myself of that - we can add the tool or product into our routines, but they’ll always be something new or more that someone tells us we ought to do to feel “well”.

Today, a lot of my wellness routine revolves around habit stacks, thanks to said lack of time, and if it can’t be stacked, it really has to earn its place if it's to stay - so I thought I'd share some of my favourites right now in case they’re helpful for you:

WORKOUTS + CATCH UPS IS TOP OF THE LIST

  • Stairmaster + self-help book: I’ve started to do this most weekday mornings - I like having “banked” some exercise in for the day before I sit down at my desk, in case it doesn’t end up happening later in the day. I’ll do around 30 minutes on the stairmaster whilst reading a self-help book on my kindle (makes me feel like I have my sh*t together and starts the day with a win)

  • Driving + activations: En route to the gym I'll listen to activations (and whenever I'm in traffic too) - it helps me refrain from getting annoyed about traffic & I actually appreciate the time I have to sit and listen, and work on my mindset / self-belief. I’ve also been switching this up recently to listen to a Joe Dispenza track after meeting so many successful women who rave about him.

  • Meditation + red light: I struggle to sit down and meditate so making it that each time comes with skin benefits too seems to motivate me more than knowing how it helps my brain! Shallow but true.

  • Working + vagus nerve stimulator: The easiest habit stack, usually on energy mode around 2pm to give me an afternoon boost.

  • Gratitude + brushing my teeth: Emma Grede does this, and that is the only explanation we need.

  • Evening strength training + podcast: Some people say that working out late in the day can impact your sleep but I find it helps kick off my wind-down routine & stop thinking about work. I always have a programme I’m following to take any mental load out of the session, I just have to get my @ss there.

  • Steps + Claude: I definitely don’t spend enough time outside, so I try to sometimes get some steps in, ideally in silence as a “creative work”, but I’ll most likely be chatting to Claude to start drafting replies to emails I need to respond to.

I'd love to hear any habit stacks you swear by, hit reply and let me know!

🤍 Reminder: I’m giving one of you this incredible PR gift from the team at Chloé (worth over £450) to celebrate some new additions to their Atelier Des Fleurs collection - it’s impossible to pick a favourite & you won’t have to either!

All you have to do to be entered is refer at least one new person to The Wellness Dose with your referral link between 18th May - 1st June. Every new referral via your link is another entry.

Thanks again for your support in helping Daily Rituals grow.

Let’s get into it.

The best stories & updates that caught our eye this week →

  • 🚶🏽‍♀️‍➡️Lunchtime stroll, anyone? Most of us have nailed the AM walk - getting outside early to regulate our circadian rhythm and enjoy the free energy and dopamine boost nature so generously provides. But what your morning stroll won't do? Top up your vitamin D. For that, the sun needs to be much higher in the sky (around 11am-3pm) so UVB rays can reach you via a short, direct path through the atmosphere. Admittedly, we didn't listen much during GCSE physics, but in short: too early or too late = too much atmosphere in the way. To check whether you’re topping up, see if your shadow is longer than your height. If it is, the UVB isn't reaching you. The sweet spot is around 10-15 minutes of unprotected exposure. After that, layer up with your go-to SPF and get your sunkissed glow from this Aussie-favourite toxic-free tan instead.

  • 💘 Swipe right for a run: Dating sucks. There's no surprise then that we've found ourselves in a "dating recession" - only 30% of under-35s are actively dating. But it's not that we don't love love anymore (83% of women still want a serious relationship) - it's that finding out whether you're a values-match is increasingly time-consuming. Do they go out every Saturday when you're all about getting those precious 8 hours? Will they think you're cosplaying as a cyborg in your red light mask? Fear not - whilst there's no supplement for a good relationship (yet), there is a new wave of fitness dating apps and events betting that a shared love of a healthy lifestyle is the easiest shortcut to a solid match. ATEAM, an invite-only US app for wellness enthusiasts, is trying to crack the values-match with a 40-person entrance committee - which will arguably make or break the whole idea. Making sure the textbook "image" of wellness isn't the only thing that gets you through the door will be key. And whilst the app says it's open to platonic connections too - nobody in a committed relationship wants to explain why they've got a dating app on their phone. If you do want to get matched with other likeminded wellness girlies, that’s where Between Us comes in. Thank us later.

  • 🗺️ On the map: London might not have bone broth bars, 6-floor wellness havens or Erewhon (yet) - but our wellness scene is having a moment. Alo just opened their invite-only Wellness Club, and nightclub Tramp launched longevity-focused Tramp Health, where members can recover by day (for a small £10k per year plus a £5k joining fee). And for the launches you can enjoy without selling a kidney (or needing a blue tick): Reset just launched their Arc-like contrast space in Islington, Goji opened their new reformer and sauna studio in Clapham and Miami-favourite Jet Set Pilates is finally coming to Shoreditch this summer. It's not all good news though - well-loved Bodyism and Replace both recently closed their Notting Hill locations, a reminder of just how hard it is to hold onto London's wellness-butterflies as the market gets more crowded. Admittedly, we’re still patiently waiting for the Club Athletic-style group squad training to take hold in London (this would probably solve the dating issue too..).

  • 👙 Smart bras? Not a week goes by without a new way to track your health data - we've had smart earrings, bands, and now an insert that goes into your favourite bra, courtesy of Petal. The insert sits close to your heart, which they argue makes it more accurate than wrist or finger-based trackers. We had a lot of questions: how do you wash it? (You can't.) Do you sleep in it? (No.) Does it come in different sizes? (One size fits all...). We're not convinced just yet - but smart bras feel inevitable. They'd just need to be washable and provide useful workout data if they're ever going to replace your Oura.

See you next Monday!
