Hey angels,

Crikey, we made it through the heat here in the UK. Kudos to anyone who did anything productive last week - you're stronger than me.

I'm writing this as I half-listen to the Lumineers (live!) - no, I'm not at a concert with my laptop in hand (what a sad little life, Jane), they're playing about 5 minutes down the road and providing a rather nice soundtrack for my Sunday evening writing.

This past week I headed to The Longevity Show, mostly hoping to bring you an interesting round up of everything I discovered - except ironically, I felt like I'd been run over the entire time, running on limited sleep thanks to the heat from the night before. On that, I bet Eight Sleep sales in the UK are soaring. Anyways, no amount of NAD+ strips, human regenerators or LED panels was going to save me. I did however see someone on Instagram describe it as "a fascinating mix of bonkers quackery and some genuine medical tech and innovations" - and I think that's the only summary we need.

Thank you as always for being here.

Let's get into it 🤍

Your quick hits to be hotter, healthier & wealthier →

HOT

  • Ready to get your glow on for summer? Say less. Aussie-favourites SWIISH - the home of glow-from-within rituals - are giving one Wellness Dose reader over £500 (!!) of wellness essentials, including a Bon Charge LED Red Light Therapy Mask. Run. (SWIISH x Daily Rituals)

  • This new carrot juice collab with model & creator Aisha Potter just put Joe and the Juice back on the map. We’re calling it - it’s a carrot juice / carrot everything summer. Her D.Y.S (drink your skincare) juice includes two knobs of ginger, two lemons, two sticks of celery, a chunk of pineapple, some carrots and a dash of olive oil. And whilst you absolutely could and should just chomp on some carrots at home (less sugar, more fibre), D.Y.S is handy for a micronutrient and antioxidant boost when you’re out and about conquering the world. (Instagram)

  • One for the low-tox girlies. Tala just launched SoftSet, their first naturally derived collection that’s PFA free, Oeko-Tex Class 1 certified and perhaps the most chic we’ve seen yet in this category. This is our #1 pick, and it’s in stock. (Tala)

HEALTHY

  • If you’ve ever considered getting a laser for acne-scarring, anti-ageing or hyperpigmentation - listen to this first. (Pursuit of Wellness)

  • Are your 4-legged friends feeling the heat? Look no further than this DIY ice bowl packed with electrolytes. (Instagram

  • Would you go to a “wellbeing concert”? New Yorkers are. (Carnegie Hall

  • The signs your nervous system is healing aren’t what you think they might be. PS absolutely do not read this one at work.. (Eros and Honey)

WEALTHY

  • Billboards are SO back in wellness & beauty, especially if they’re a content moment. (Instagram)

  • This behind-the-eye device that promises to help you sleep through the night (& boost your HRV) raised over $100k in just over a minute. Would you wear it to bed? (Kickstarter

  • Flightstory, Steven Barlett’s media company & investment fund are hiring a Head of Marketing for The Diary of a CEO pod. (LinkedIn)

  • 🌡️ The state of wellness: bleak. McKinsey revealed last week that whilst 84% of consumers say wellness is a top priority, only 13% are achieving their wellness goals. In the same week, our feeds served us women doing mini "upper blephs" using single-use eye drops (with a ridiculously long list of contraindications), brands using GLP-1-like marketing for oral supplements that are decidedly not GLP-1s, and McKinsey themselves flagging that products to manage the many GLP-1 side effects are now a “major investment opportunity”. Sigh. It's hard not to feel both overwhelmed and frustrated by the expectations placed on our wellness routines, especially when that’s probably making them feel much less well. Without becoming a walking cliché, we’d argue closing the gap starts with deciding what feeling well actually means to you. Write it down (use these prompts), and refer back to it before buying the new shiny thing or whenever you feel like you should be skinnier, stronger, faster, leaner... Let’s set our own goal posts, before letting Instagram do it for us.

  • 💰 Would you pay to flourish? We have a pilates studio on every corner, and we love that for the pilates girlies. But with the K-shaped economy taking hold of wellness and beauty - where those in the middle get squeezed for being either a little too pricey or not quite luxe enough - there's a new type of club entering the market: one designed to help you flourish. Through memberships that prioritise applicants "living in alignment with their highest purpose", who are "heart-centred" and eager for community. That's what gets you through the door at The Portal, who just raised $5m to launch their "human flourishing club" in Austin, Texas later this year. The concept feels similar to Remedy Place, Six Senses Place and Triple Bond - opening at Marylebone's BoTree hotel in August - all built around fostering community whilst enjoying the wellness amenities. Paying to be in a room with people who share your values is an appealing shortcut, but it’s not the only way. As Grace Beverley put it on Great Company: “be a village to have a village”. This is worth a read if you’re still trying to find yours.

  • 🙋 Are we all Karens now? AthletechNews thinks so after reading NielsenIQ's latest report on the new wellness consumer, and well, we felt rather seen. The Wellness Karen is sceptical, verifies everything on apps like Yuka and appreciates when brands explain the why behind their ingredients - and the ones they've left out. Interestingly, the report suggests we’re moving past emotional branding in wellness, wanting verifiable ingredient-level data as proof. We'd argue it's still not so black and white, where the lower the health stakes, the more beauty still wins - a great campaign & aesthetic will always sway us more for a new bronzy glow than it might a supplement. And honestly, we’re kind of okay with that. Brands like Aesop, Flamingo Estate and Sidia have built entire worlds out of beauty, ritual and feeling, with barely a clinical claim in sight. Not everything needs a study to earn its spot if it makes you feel good, as we, fellow Karens, probably ought to remind ourselves occasionally.

  • 🇫🇷 The French do it best: We've interviewed many a French girlie in London and will forever be in awe of their inherent chic-ness. Whilst brands like Violette FR have caught on in the UK (thanks to this heavenly matte lip formula), there are some new under-the-radar favourites worth knowing about. First: perhaps the most impressive SPF development in some time - Sunlution's Lumi-Shield Daily Fluid. It uses "PhotoAdaptive Tech" to increase UVA protection as light exposure increases throughout the day - aka, the more sun you get, the harder it works. Another worth an honourable mention (and one we'll all be needing if these long hot summers continue): Misaj - aka the Rhode of mosquito protection, thanks to their Glow Protect body lotion and impeccable branding. It couldn't be further from the DEET-like products we all dread applying - using natural essential oils to protect, with not a single endocrine disruptor in sight. Of course, it's female-founded, such genius work had to be.

PS. if you’ve made it here, please could you do me a favour and tell one of your besties about The Wellness Dose? Just share this link with them to sign up.

Thank you!
