🤩 You’re neuro-glowing

Plus what to do this weekend, a bridal-prep face mask & a kimchi recommendation (yes, really)

Have you ever heard of a Spiritual Triathlon? I hadn’t either until Dr Josh Axe spoke about it on The Pursuit of Wellness podcast. You’ve probably heard of a traditional triathlon where you run, bike and swim over various distances – it’s extremely physical & requires some serious training. Well, a Spiritual Triathlon shifts the focus to training the mind, every morning. Why? If you win your morning, there’s a good chance you’ll win your day too so it’s training that’s worth committing to.

Maybe it’s reading 10 pages of your book, practicing gratitude and getting the morning sunlight in your eyes. Maybe it’s your pilates class, some breath work & saying some affirmations. Whatever they are, train them daily before you start work. Plus, the next time someone starts harping on about their triathlon training, you can nod along and tell them your training too (just harder, actually).

SKINCARE BUT MAKE IT WELLNESS
Stress Less, Glow More

You’ve heard of the gut-brain connection, but did you know there's also a mind-skin connection? Recent studies reveal a concrete link between our psychological state and our skin – aka, your "neuroglow."

That might not come as much as a surprise - we’ve probably all experienced a breakout (or two) when you’ve had a crazy week at work. It doesn’t stop at breakouts though - increased stress can also decrease our collagen production, worsen rosacea, and aggravate psoriasis (just great..). Ironic really, considering these often cause us even more stress.

Given this, it’s no wonder that brands are launching products and treatments embracing a mind-body-beauty approach, especially now that there’s science to back it up.

Our Favourites:

  • The “Browacial” by @beautysecretsbyriona - Without sounding like an M&S ad - this is no ordinary brow shape & tint, it’s a “premium relaxation” session, as described by Founder Riona. Over 120 minutes, you’ll experience all the brow shaping you’re used to plus a hydrojelly mask, facial gua sha, a brow massage, scalp massage, hair brushing (the dream), and soothing ice globes. You’ll leave with perfect brows & feeling entirely pampered.

  • ESPA’s Restful Massage - Spending a day at the ESPA Life Spa at the Corinthia is pure bliss in itself (PS, you can win a day there below by referring your besties to sign up for Daily Rituals!). To step up your neuroglow, add on their 90 minute Restful Massage. It starts with guided breathing & a visualisation meditation, before easing into a deep aromatherapy massage with hot stones. Yes please.

  • Crystal Infused Skincare from Eyeam - This new beauty-meets-wellness brand are set out to clear our skin, level up our mindset & raise our vibrational energy. Their I Love Myself Solution Set comes with their popular Love Language Lip Bloss (feels like a balm, looks like a gloss) & a set of ultra-aesthetic In My Healing Era Affirmation Cards. With their holistic approach and cool-girl branding, we predict they’ll be a Sephora staple in no time.

  • The Neuroscience-Based Skincare Brand - Owned by the iconic Sisley Paris, Neurae is the epitome of 'neuroglow.' Each product draws on neuroscience research to elicit emotions like Joy (using their Joie Cream) and energy (with their, you guessed it, Energie Cream). Their Harmonie Serum caught our eye too - it decreases cortisol in the skin by 32% to leave you & your skin feeling more balanced & resilient. PSA, they offer a free discovery kit with their 4 best selling products when you pay for postage! I already feel happier.

What’s Next?

For neuroglow products to gain mass market credibility, our guess is that they’ll need more evidence to back up their claims. But considering the science on the mind-skin connection is there, proving their products effectiveness shouldn't be too hard.

Expect to see more skin longevity products & treatments too – or at least marketing centred around skin longevity. With biohackers like Bryan Johnson making headlines every month at this point with his their latest longevity hacks, it's only a matter of time before the skincare industry pivots to embrace this trend.

Wellness Events To Book This Summer

With so much happening, it’s easy to miss out on the best wellness events in London. So, we’ve curated our top picks just for you below.

1ST - 7TH JULY

  • To find new health, beauty & food brands: Head to the Best of Nature Show (6th - 7th July) in Shoreditch. As the name suggests, it’s a “no nasties” celebration of the best brands that are organic & natural.

  • Connect at a wellness brunch: Head to Georgina Killick’s half-day retreat on the 6th July at Bubba Oasis for two classes, a brunch & plenty of time to meet some likeminded women in the city. Or for a weekday alternative, head to Detox Kitchen’s Wellness Morning at Flow LDN the following week.

8TH - 14TH JULY

  • Try a skincare masterclass with Jacqueline Organic: Grab your ticket for this 90 minute “Wellness for City Girls” session at 180 House.

15TH - 21ST JULY

  • To step up your calm: Book this South Bath Healing session in Kensington with Dhia Wellness on Thursday 18th July.

  • Get a dopamine boost: Head to Fern Cottons Happy Place Festival at Chiswick House (13th-14th July). PSA, Saturday tickets have already sold out, so make sure to book onto Sunday asap if you’re interested!

THE WELLNESS WEB:

  • đź‘€ Wellness tea: Celeb trainer Tracy Anderson is suing her former employee Megan Roup for copying her “TMM method” in The Sculpt Society. According to the court though, dance fitness & cardio routines are “uncopyrightable”. Awkward.

  • 🌹 That new influencer brand: If you haven’t seen the AI dream-world from Tayla Blue’s fragrance brand tease, it’s worth a watch here. Blind buying fragrance online is hard work, so we love that each order includes a discovery set for you to test before opening your full bottle. Genius.

  • đź’Ť Calling all brides: this ÂŁ75 CO2 mask is a pre-wedding essential. It’s not cheap, but 100% worth it for a bridal glow according to TikTok

  • 🎧 Listen to this: Apparently the world (yes, the entire world) is doing fillers wrong according to this celebrity Plastic Surgeon.

  • 🥬 Get your fermented fix: We all know that kimchi is great for our gut health, right? But those tiny supermarket jars last all of 2-3 servings tops. We’re stocking up in bulk from this award-winning small biz instead (& our gut bacteria is happy about it too).

  • 🍫 Protein on the go: Vegan protein brand Misfits just launched a Bestsellers Variety Pack for their new softer bars. So far, our favourite is Peanut Butter Fudge.

  • 🌸 Skincare savings: It’s no secret around here that we’re big Medik8 fans. Their iconic Retinal is chef's kiss. Get 30% off all Medik8 here with code “PAYDAY30”.

  • đź’Š Zoe launches their first “supplement”: Made in partnership with Indi, the supplement looks more like a salad topper - crunchy & seed-like, but that’s intentional. It’s packed with over 30 plants and 35 different types of fibre, & it’s designed to easily up the variety in your diet through whole foods to help with energy & digestion.
