☆ Your exclusive invite, airport wellness, an easy hot girl hack

Plus the new Insider interview, the top 10 fiction reads of 2024, trousers that help you hike and an online retreat worth booking.

Hey lovely,

Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals!

I’m hoping your first Monday back at work hasn’t been too brutal (and if it’s your first day back in the office - ugh, I’m feeling for you).

Before we get into it - today marks the start of our Artist’s Way Accountability WhatsApp group. Over 40 of us are already in, and we’ll be cheering each other on as we work through the book over the next 12 weeks. If you want to get more creative or just stick to a journal practice in 2025, come join us. It’s going to be a good one.

As always, I’m grateful to have you here! Enjoy xo

OUR NEXT IRL EVENT JUST DROPPED

Looking for a co-founder, new workout bestie, accountability partner or just fancy meeting more women like you in London?

WHAT IS IT?

A new way to connect with like-minded, ambitious women in the city, over matcha (!!).

WHEN?

Saturday Feb 15th: 9am - 11.30am.

WHERE?

Whisk by JENKI - Borough Market. We’ve got the top floor exclusively for Wellness Dose readers and nothing has ever felt more on brand tbh.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?
  • 2x curated pre-matched connections based off your personal criteria in your pre-event questionnaire.

  • A dreamy goodie bag worth £35.

  • 1x matcha from JENKI.

WHAT’S THE PLAN?
  • 9:00: Arrive at Whisk by JENKI.

  • 9.15: We’ll kick things off with an affirmation exercise to set the energy for the morning.

  • 9.30 - 10.30: It’s time to meet your match-a’s whilst enjoying our JENKI matcha.

  • 10.30 - 11.30: Hot girl walk (Borough to St Pauls loop).

Ready to meet your match-a? See you there.

  • 📚 Fiction faves: Want to up your fiction book count this year? Alisha Ramos from Downtime just dropped her top 10 reads from 2024 - and unsurprisingly, this one is at the top of the list.

  • 💄 Oh, darling: Charlotte Tilbury’s Covent Garden store just got a glow-up. Opening January 9th, the 3-floor “Beauty Wonderland” also features the brand’s first-ever Charlotte’s Skin Spa. FYI, the facials are done communally, and whilst they might not be the most high-tech, they’re quick, affordable, and a handy way to try out some of the brand’s best-selling products.

  • ✈️ Airport wellness on the rise: Duty-free shopping is (very) fun and all, but now travellers in San Fransisco can take things up a level with AG1 and Therabody’s new vending machines. Set to launch across more airports this year, we’d now like to kindly request that all airports swap those awful blue lights for something a little more circadian-friendly after dark. Pretty please?

  • 🍓 The business of fruit: In today’s episode of “Who knew that could make you millions?”, companies making climate-resilient, nutrient-packed fruit (think bigger, crunchier blueberries and ultra-luxe strawberries) are making serious bank. One blueberry brand just hit $1 billion, and another just raised $150 million for their fancy strawberries. Next up, a banana that can survive the depths of our work bags..

  • 👋 Adios, fitness fad: Wall pilates, “soft hiking” (aka, a more laid-back hike), and the 12-2-30 treadmill routine saw over a 50% drop in searches in 2024, according to this fitness report. Apparently nostalgic workouts like rollerblading & step aerobics are on the up in 2025, as is Hyrox - searches increased by 233%.

  • 🥾 Hiking, with a little help: Talking of hiking, Arc’teryx x Skip’s new mechanical (yes, mechanical) trousers promise to give you a handy lift on the way up and absorb impact on your knees on way down. Their robot aesthetic is an acquired taste, and they’re not cheap either at $5K per pair, but that hasn’t stopped the masse - pre-sales have already sold out completely until 2026.

  • 🥕 A new way, with carrots: Granted, this tahini maple recipe is supposed to be a nutritious side dish for Christmas dinner, but fyi, we’re eating it all year round.

  • 💆‍♀️ A health MOT, “on crack”: WNU Founder Pip Durell recently took a trip to the iconic SHA Wellness, and now we want to go even more - who knew that was possible.

  • 📅 Book this: Wanted to attend a Pilates by Bryony retreat before but never managed to get a ticket? Same girl, but we’re in luck. This Saturday she’s hosting her next retreat and it’s all happening online, & for just £50. It’s a 10/10 schedule that includes a class with Bryony, breath work with Rob Rea, a vision board session with Izzy Utterson, and even a mini business masterclass from the Founders of Arrae. Do it solo, or invite a friend round and enjoy a cosy retreat at home together.

  • 🍋 Shoot your shot: Superfood brand Rheal just launched their wellness shots with 100% of your daily vitamin C in each bottle. Made with wonky fruit and glass packaging (we love to see it!), they’re eco-friendly and pack a punch. With the wellness shot market is predicted to double in value by 2026, we’re predicting Rheal will aim to take the top spot of brands like Moji and Plenish.

A dose of Stoicism

FACING A CHALLENGE, OR IS SOMETHING BUGGING YOU?

  • Lean into stoicism. Not sure what that looks like? Ask ChatGPT with this prompt: “I need your help. I’m currently facing [insert issue, dilemma, challenge here]. I feel [insert your honest feelings]. How would the Stoics respond to this? What would they encourage me to learn from the situation?

It’s your 411 from the wellness girlies in the know. This week, we’ve opened up the floor to Lucy Spicer, she’s a psychological coach, speaker & podcast host, and it’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about wellness rituals to keep her grounded.

Lucy, let’s start at the beginning - was there a defining moment that inspired you to become a psychological coach, or has this always felt like your calling?

Studying psychology at A-level was the first time I truly loved what I was learning. Around the same time, I volunteered on a retreat caring for the sick and dying, and those two experiences felt like the stars aligning. From that moment, I knew I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, which led me to study psychology as a masters, work in the NHS, and eventually launch my own practice in 2019.

For those who might not know (myself included), what exactly does a psychological coach do? How is it different from therapy?

I help clients understand their thoughts, behaviours, and emotions so they can become the best versions of themselves. Therapy often explores past experiences, while my coaching approach is very action-oriented - focusing on practical strategies to move forward.

Got it! What was life like before opening your own practice?

It was a classic case of breakdown leading to breakthrough. After a tough breakup and recovering from burnout, I found myself back in my childhood bedroom. That period of rebuilding gave me the clarity to start my own business, and I haven’t looked back since.

You’ve built such a multifaceted career - what’s been the most rewarding part of wearing so many hats?

The freedom and flexibility to take any idea (often sparked in the shower that morning) and bring it to life.

And the least rewarding?

The constant pressure to do more. Journaling my wins every day helps quiet that inner critic.

I love your mantra, ‘What if it works out better than I expected.’ Can you share a time when this mindset paid off?

It helped me trust my gut to walk away from relationships that didn’t feel right, which eventually led me to my fiancé, Tom. Professionally, I have pinch-me moments all the time - reflecting on how far my business has come over the last five years reminds me to stay grateful.

Congrats on your engagement - so exciting! Are there any wellness or beauty practices you’re trying in your bridal era?

Thank you! I’m loving my bridal era, but I’m committed to doing it without pressure. I’m focusing on sustainable habits - running, Pilates, weight training, limiting alcohol, eating gut-friendly foods, and investing in great skincare. No ‘wed-shreds’ here!

What are your go-to non-negotiable wellness rituals?

Journaling, meditation, and breathwork. But I also love the simplicity of just being - ‘raw dogging,’ as it’s often called now. Pausing to sit in stillness, without scrolling or distractions, it’s so grounding.

Any wellness products, tools, or treatments you can’t live without?

Walk us through your morning routine - what’s your secret to starting the day right?

No scrolling! Morning coffee in bed with Tom, gratitude journaling, tidying my home, listening to affirmations while doing my makeup, and time-blocking my day (both business & personal tasks) in my notes app.

A wellness hack everyone needs to know?

Gratitude - it’s simple but life-changing. And swap scrolling for reading before bed!

Anything else to leave our readers with?

To learn more about what I do and how I work with my 1:1 clients, follow me at @lucyspicer_ and drop me a DM! Also, if you’re looking for a new go-to podcast for 2025, I have to plug The Journal by Lucy Spicer (yours truly!). Every guest shares how they transformed their darkest moments into opportunities for growth. It’s for the person who wants more from life, from themselves, but just isn’t sure how to get there yet.
