This edition is brought to you by W-Wellness.
Hey lovely,
Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals, back with your Wellness Dose.
I've been LOVING our new WhatsApp community chat this past week - there's been so many great reccs and just generally 10/10 vibes, with women from all across the globe getting to know one another. If you'd like in (and to be entered into the giveaway to win a NuFace Trinity), all you need to do is refer 3 people to The Wellness Dose using your referral link. We're keeping things cosy (and free from 184929 notifications), so for now, access will be capped too.
And if your Monday feels a lil meh, or you haven't (yet) kicked off the week as you'd have hoped, this really stuck with me as a reminder to be more intentional with finding joy in everyday moments.
As always, thank you for being here. I'm so grateful for you.

The best stories & updates that caught our eye this week →
💰 Getting juicy: Joe & The Juice founder (better known to us as Pilates by Bryony's husband..) is set to IPO the business at a huge $2.6 billion valuation, 23 years after launching his first juice bar. Why now? Apparently he aims to "capitalise on investor appetite for scalable, convenience-driven brands in the healthy food sector." One to watch closer to home? This TikTok-favourite functional smoothie bar that just opened in central London.
⚠️ Whoopsies: Wearable health tracker Whoop found itself in hot water last week with the FDA thanks to their latest hardware launched back in May. The issue? The FDA says you can't market an unapproved medical device, but Whoop says they're merely "encouraging a healthy lifestyle" not diagnosing conditions. Arguably, naming their highest tier wearable "MG" (aka, Medical Grade) probably wasn't their smartest move.
💧 Thirst trap tech: New wearables like temporary tattoos linked to your phone will soon remind you when you need water. Whilst it seems a little OTT for daily use, they've got potential to support diagnosing kidney or cardiovascular issues through continuous hydration monitoring. For now, we'll stick to our trusty Stanley.
🧠 Brain retreats incoming: With neurofeedback devices rising in popularity and everyone's obsession with peak performance both in and out of the gym, expect retreats to launch this year focused on training your brain, as much as your body. Think cognitive games and escape rooms, but much (much!) more chic. The problem? Currently, there's zero proof brain training apps or programmes actually work, but honestly, our guess is that some people will pay regardless.
🥣 A little sweet treat: Looking for some inspo to supercharge your yoghurt bowls? Look no further than this gut-loving caramelised banana combo.
💊 Supplement paradox: One in five Britons took wellness supplements last year, yet seven in ten think they're overhyped according to new YouGov research. Most say they discover supplements via TikTok (notorious for said overhyping), with only 7% learning about them in-store. Our hot take? Someone needs to create the SpaceNK of supplements - a curated supplement lineup (something a little more premium than H&B) with expert consultations on hand.
🦷 The fight for sink space: Leave it to the wellness industry to turn those daily four minutes at our sink into a ritual-inspired premium "teethcare" category. Complete with Pinterest-worthy toothbrushes and fluoride-free pastes, the space is split between science-backed approaches and aesthetic bathroom shelfie brands. One thing's clear: fluoride-free isn't going anywhere as many aim to reduce daily fluoride exposure. Our current favourite contains 12% Hydroxyapatite to help remineralize teeth and actually brushes like normal toothpaste.
🔥 Lagree era: Nothing's more humbling than Lagree (or as Miss Grace Beverley suggests, "reformer on crack"), with its scary Megaformer and time-under-tension torture. Whilst Grace was pleading for more Lagree studios to open, we personally think there's a huge gap for an entirely new method in the UK - somewhere between Lagree's slightly boring flows and reformer's unpredictability from studio to studio. London torture favourites include Karv, MAD, and Daily Rituals pick Form.
🥊 Combat's cool: Brands like Jab are making boxing less intimidating through aesthetic branding and their welcoming community-first approach. With many looking for a workout that's a little different from the usual categories, we're seeing a surge of boutique combat studio growth across the globe. New NYC spot The Pack blends strength, cardio, and "street defence" where, instead of punch bags, you hit BOB, a bouncer-looking "body opponent bag" that somehow looks like he'll not think twice about giving you a serious left hook to the chops.

From a PR powerhouse to one of the UK's leading hormone health experts, Jess Shand's transformation wasn't by choice - it was necessity. After burning the candle at both ends building a successful PR agency, Jess found herself struggling with debilitating anxiety, panic attacks, and finally a PCOS diagnosis that forced her to tune in and listen to what her body was screaming at her.
Unable to get the answers she was looking for through her GP, Jess retrained as a Naturopathic Nutritionist, embarking on a healing journey that would completely redefine her relationship with success and, importantly, her health. Her own experience of losing her period and eventually conceiving naturally - now mum to 5-year-old Sebby - became the foundation for helping thousands of other women do the same.
Now, as an Author of "The Hormone Balance Handbook," and Ambassador for Daily Rituals favourite W-Wellness, what stands out about Jess is her refreshingly practical approach. She's a busy mum with a thriving career and gets that we don't have hours to spare for Nala Smith-inspired romanticised cooking or 2-hour wellness routines.
⚬ Jess, I'm so grateful to be chatting with you! You've talked openly about losing your period for some time before gaining it back. What advice would you give for those in a similar position?
Getting my period back was one of the most empowering things I've done - your cycle really is your monthly health report card as a woman.
Some things that helped me:
Increased nourishment, especially healthy fats and carbs. Your body needs fuel to feel safe and down-regulates regular hormone production when it doesn’t. I always say to focus on “nourishment, not punishment”.
Slowing down my workouts - I swapped HIIT for walking and Pilates.
Managing stress through breathwork & journalling.
Being patient and tracking more than just your cycle - it took me some time to get my period back, so whilst it’s en route, look for other small wins on the way e.g. better sleep, energy, and mood. These often come first.
Targeted supplements to fill key nutritional gaps - W-Wellness stock all of my go-to supplement brands that I use in my clinical practice, you can find my favourites here.
⚬ Why do you think GPs often struggle with female hormone imbalances?
Time constraints mean 10-minute appointments aren't enough to explore the full picture. The system, whilst it has many positives, treats symptoms rather than asking why the imbalance is happening (like prescribing the pill to help irregular cycles, rather than working out what’s causing the irregularity). Plus, standard blood tests can miss subtle imbalances that functional testing would catch.
⚬ The pill is a confusing one - some people get perfect skin, others break out like teenagers. What's happening there?
It essentially shuts your hormonal system down and can even deplete nutrient stores. It affects everyone differently but I’ve done a full post on it here with all the questions I get asked in the clinic.
⚬ How would I know if my hormones are "off"?
Your body is always talking to you. We’re often led to doubt our symptoms as women, but you know your body best - if something feels off, it probably is.
Signs of imbalance can be: irregular or missing periods, mood swings around your cycle, fatigue, bloating, acne, low libido, or just feeling "off." without knowing why.
Start with your GP for basic blood work, but private testing usually gives a more detailed view. I often use functional hormone tests like DUTCH testing in my clinic.
⚬ You've said "the cure is often in the kitchen" - what do you mean?
Food is one of the most powerful tools we have for hormone health. We have three meals a day - that’s three opportunities to nourish & optimise our body toward better health.
⚬ And your favourite meal on rotation?
My favourite recipe right now has to be my Salmon Salsa Sunshine Bowl - it really does taste like summer, packed with antioxidants and seasonal goodness like mangos & tomatoes. It takes less than half an hour to make and combines so many colourful & fresh ingredients to support your hormones, blood sugar levels, and gut microbiome too.
⚬ Outside of the kitchen, what's your #1 recommendation for hormone balance?
Sleep! It's absolutely game-changing. Quality sleep helps regulate cortisol, supports blood sugar balance and clears inflammation. You could be eating perfectly, but if you're not sleeping well, your body won't have the foundation to heal.
⚬ Although everyone's different, what supplements do you rate?
Omega-3s are always top of my list for reducing inflammation and supporting hormone health. Magnesium for stress regulation, sleep, and muscle relaxation. Zinc for hormone production and immune support. These create a strong foundation, but it’s important to tailor to individual needs based on functional testing. If in doubt, a W-Wellness consultation is a great place to start too!
⚬ Favourite for supporting fertility?
One of my favourite go-to’s is Wild Nutrition’s food-grown Fertility Support. It includes key nutrients like methylated folate, zinc, selenium, and vitamin D, all essential for hormone balance, egg quality, and reproductive health. It really takes the guesswork out for women at any stage of their fertility journey.
⚬ Finally, where can we find you?
You can find me at W-Wellness and my book "The Hormone Balance Handbook".
