☆ The 12-week hack to achieve more, a new vitamin C benefit, sleep debt could hurt your heart
Plus the new space for female founders, a hot take on clickbait wellness headlines, new launches worth noting and much more.
Hey lovely,
Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals.
Thank you so much to those of you who have been referring your girl's group chat to sign up to The Wellness Dose this week. Your Sephora gift cards will be (digitally) en route to you today.
And without getting too soppy, I was genuinely overwhelmed with the response to The Becoming Club last week over on Instagram. After attending so many events since launching Daily Rituals over a year ago, I was craving a new space that brought together female founders in wellness, for intimate conversations that help us to build, share and grow, together. It's application only (less than 2 weeks left to apply), so if you've got a brand, a community or a service in the space - this is for you. Sure, we'll have cute dinners, but we'll be talking everything from ad strategies, websites, investors, brand deals to sharing contacts, making intros and the highs & lows - you name it.
I've had a couple of DMs that I figured I'd answer all in one go here:
Does it matter if I don't live in London? Nope, if you're successful, you'll be notified, and then we'll let you know once there's enough women in your city to host the first dinner. Outside of the UK, there'll be an executive facilitator at each event to make sure major ground, advice & feedback is shared across the group. In the UK, you'll have yours truly!
Is there a monthly membership fee? No, for now it's pay-per-event, invite-only for those that are successful.
When will applications re-open? Once a quarter.
Hope that helps, as always, I'm so grateful for you.

The best stories & updates that caught our eye this week →
🤖 Boots enters the chat: In a move that really said “watch how you keep IRL relevant”, Boots just launched an AI skin diagnostic scanner in select UK stores, developed with L'Oréal and endorsed by the British Association of Dermatologists. The “SmartSkin” (2/10 for original naming) scanner just needs a couple of pics of your skin and can scan for 70+ skin conditions to recommend a personalised treatment protocol. What really stands out? They also rolled out a dermatology training programme for their pharmacists ahead of the launch. Not only will it take pressure off GP appointments for minor skin conditions, it means you can walk into store & leave the same day with topical meds you might have had to wait weeks for at the GP. Genius.
✨ Don’t skip this step: Japanese scientists just discovered that topical vitamin C can actually reactivate "youth genes" (gimme gimme!) and reverse age-related skin thinning in just 14 days. Suddenly that £15 serum sitting in your bathroom cabinet feels like it needs a little more love than the brightening fixes it gets credit for. FYI, this one’s a personal Daily Rituals favourite.
😴 Your science-backed Sunday lie-in: Get in your head about veering too much off course over the weekends to catch up on your sleep debt? Turns out your body really does keep the score. In this self-reported study, they showed that catching up on those blissful hours missed during the week could cut heart disease risk by 20%. Whilst the data isn’t bullet proof, a 20% reduction is pretty compelling. Sure, ideally you wouldn’t accumulate sleep debt during the week, but when you’re busy building your dream life, getting to the gym & everything else, it’s the reality for many of us high-performing girlies.
💸 Hair growth backlash: Hair thinning searches are up 67% this year and brands are cashing in. Most notably, the founder of Aussie brand TBC Skincare just launched Bouf targeting postpartum hair loss. The reception? Mixed. Many felt the 60s-style wig creative was a poor choice (you know, for a brand promising hair growth). And targeting exhausted new mums for what's usually temporary hair loss whilst hormones rebalance? It feels a little icky. Outside of postpartum, if you're noticing some thinning - this brand caught our eye. With clinically backed products (from a third party study, lovely stuff) for thicker, fuller hair in just 30 days. Their OG serum contains 14 actives, including growth factors, and comes with a 100-day guarantee - we’re here for it.
💍 Health appointments, with receipts: Oura just partnered with Maven Clinic in the US so your biometric data can actually inform real healthcare decisions during your fertility journey. Finally, mentioning your recovery scores at your appointment won't automatically brand you a hypochondriac. Small wins.
💊 Talking of GP appointments: It shouldn’t be necessary, but if you’re struggling with being taken seriously from your doc (Oura scores in hand or not) - you need to watch this.
🔥 On the launch list: Sauna blanket faves HigherDOSE made a smart seasonal pivot this week with their microcurrent & LED Body Sculptor device. It’s the perfect summer go-to when the heat from your sauna blanket isn't feeling too appealing, and you’ve got more of a chance of a perfect sleep score than getting in for a last minute lymphatic appointment.
Elsewhere in the Wellness Web:
Paula's Choice dropped their cult BHA toner in pre-soaked pad form for glowy skin on the go.
Dior gave their viral pH lip balm the cheek treatment - it’s their first reactive blush stick that adapts to your skin tone.
Samsung levelled up their Galaxy Watch (in beta mode in the US/Korea) with everything from VO2-max training to measuring blood carotenoid levels through your skin (aka basically calling you out for not getting enough antioxidants from your daily fruit & veggies).

This 12-week hack will supercharge your productivity
THE REAL MID-YEAR GLOW UP
This week's hot girl hack is inspired by the fact we're officially 6 months into 2025, making it the perfect time for a mid-year reset.
The best way to tackle it? Turn ChatGPT into your personal business & life coach using the systems from the bestselling book - The 12 Week Year.
Whilst you should 100% read the book, the general concept is that by splitting your year into four 12-week sprints, you stay laser-focused and in turn, achieve way more in 12 weeks than most do in 12 months.
The prompt:
"I want to plan my next 12 weeks using The 12 Week Year method. Can you ask me as many questions as you need to help me get clear on my vision, set focused goals, and build weekly tactics and check-ins to help me stay on track?
Please also provide 4 journal prompts each week - 1 related to manifestation, and 3 focused on mindset, personal growth, and confidence.
I'd like to check in every week, so when I message you saying "weekly check-in" 1 week from now, you'll ask for my progress and take me through a structured review."
And if this is your vibe - you probably should apply to be in The Becoming Club - our new private members (supper) club for women in wellness doing really cool sh*t.

Should you ditch glass bottles?
LOW TOX GIRLIES, LISTEN UP
Headlines last week claimed glass bottles contain 50x more microplastics than plastic ones, which probably had you questioning everything you thought you knew about your fancy water bottle collection. How can a bottle made from glass shed more microplastics than a bottle made from plastic?!
Well, it's not so simple.

VIBES AFTER READING CLICKBAIT HEADLINES
★ What the study actually found:
Glass bottles tested about 2x worse for microplastics overall, but it's not the glass that's the problem - it's the painted metal caps and contaminated air in bottling factories adding microplastics during production.
★ But, what the “50x more” microplastics stat?
The news outlets (sadly, plural) compared the worst glass bottle results (e.g., the outliers) to the best plastic bottle ones from completely different studies. It's basically like comparing your skin after a 2am long haul flight to your post-facial glow and declaring normal skincare doesn't work.
The DR Verdict ➔
Before you boycott glass bottles, it's worth remembering that plastic bottles made of PET can leach toxic chemicals into your drink over time, so glass likely remains the healthier (& more sustainable!) choice overall. But that headline wouldn't get many clicks. Plus, opting for a bottle with either a bare metal cap, plastic (surprisingly), or, perhaps our favourite finding - cork-topped, puts glass bottles firmly back in the lead. The takeaway? Drink wine instead.
