Plus the treatment that's divided TikTok, an iconic Mayfair spa & the DL on PEMF mats
This edition is brought to you by Naturisimo
Hey lovely,
Jasmine here! Thanks for tuning in for your 5-min wellness round-up. Before we get into it, I just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s going on BTS at Daily Rituals.
First up, Team Daily Rituals is expanding! We’ve got an exciting announcement coming up soon on that front. I’ve also been planning our first IRL event after getting your feedback a few weeks ago on what exactly you want from Daily Rituals IRL - it’s going to be a good one. Think Pilates-meets-breathwork-meets-networking (the name is 100% a WIP!) all in the space of a 2 hour intimate event. & Lastly, we hit 6k subscribers this week, which is so crazzzy to me. Thank you for showing Daily Rituals some serious love, whether it’s on here or on socials - it’s so appreciated.
As always, if you’ve got any feedback, or any topics you’d like to see covered in the next Wellness Dose, reply directly to this email & let’s chat!
In your dose:
❣️ Ask Daily Rituals: “All the wellness girlies seem to have PEMF mats, are they worth the hype?”
🔍 The Wellness Web: A dreamy Mayfair spa worth a visit, a period-pain fix, a viral blurring balm that makes the perfect bridal makeup base, and much more.
🤫 Everyones Talking About Morpheus8: A Kimmy K favourite, but not everyone is sold on the benefits. Find out why.
💄The DR List: Editors current wellness favourites.
BRB, I’M CHARGING
Ask Daily Rituals: “Are PEMF mats worth the hype?”
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) mats have started to pop up everywhere in the last year - especially the HigherDOSE one. The easiest way to understand PEMF therapy is by thinking of it like a human-sized therapeutic body charger.
Remember how we learned way back in GCSE science that our cells have electrical charges & they need energy function effectively? Well, when you’re on your PEMF mat, it sends tiny pulses of energy into your body, giving your cells a much-appreciated boost. And when they get this extra energy, they can crack on with their huge to-do list like they’ve been training with Usain Bolt himself. The result? Your cells repair & regenerate much more efficiently which brings a whole host of benefits.
Thankfully, unlike your wireless phone charger though, PEMF mats use low-frequency fields that aren’t harmful to the body with low doses of exposure.
THE BENEFITS
Whether you're recovering from a tough workout or just looking to reduce everyday stress, PEMF mats can speed up recovery, reduce pain & inflammation, improve sleep quality, and even support bone health.
Plus, they’re one of the easiest devices to get consistent with too - you can habit stack and lay on it whilst your meditating, or even sit on it whilst you’re journalling or reading.
PEMF MAT VS AN INFRARED SAUNA BLANKET?
PEMF mat → Uses natural pulsed electromagnetic frequencies to stimulate your body at a cellular level.
Infrared Sauna Blanket → Uses far infrared light to heat & help detox your body via sweating.
Both can be used as part of your at-home biohacking routine. Some mats even have built-in infrared into them which will give you the healing benefits, but it heat you as much as your sauna blanket does.
WHAT ABOUT PEMF VS GROUNDING?
We’re really getting into it now. So grounding, or earthing, involves getting your bare tootsies out & standing on the ground outside to benefit from the Earth’s surface electrons. Either that, or you can get the same effect by using a grounding mat inside.
Both grounding & PEMF use electromagnetic fields, but PEMF mats (if you’ve got a decent one), provide a much higher dose of energy in a shorter time.
WHICH PEMF MATS ARE WORTH IT?
Starting with the obvious choice, the HigherDOSE mat is a strong contender. It doesn’t have the highest PEMF power though, so it’s best for someone who’s not in chronic pain & wants to give their cells a bit of a boost. Their bestselling mat is heavy (around 20kg!) - so if you’re someone who doesn’t want to leave it out all the time (because effort in moving 20kg everyday), go for their Go Mat that’s just over 5kg.
If you’re looking for a mat that you can actually feel the PEMF (like you do when you go for a PEMF session in a clinic), you’re going to need something more intense like the CELLER8 device & mat. It’s more expensive, but in comparison to the cost of visiting a clinic (roughly £50+ per session), you’ll have got you’re moneys-worth if you use it for around 2 months consistently.
☆ The DR Verdict ☆
ARE THEY WORTH THE HYPE?
Whether your someone who works out a lot and wants to recover faster or maybe you just want to level up your at-home wellness routine, a PEMF mat is an investment, but they’re the perfect way to give your body a healthy boost from the comfort of your own home. If you’re not sure whether it’s for you, go for a session in a local clinic & test our PEMF therapy before buying a PEMF mat for at home. PSA, make sure to stick to the recommended dosage of your mat too & read all the medical info before you get started.
THE WELLNESS WEB:
🧘♀️ Go for the facial, stay for the decor: The Mayfair Spa by this iconic brand is potentially the most aesthetic we’ve ever seen. Try their South Audley Skin Therapy Session for 90 minutes of pure bliss.
💄 Tatcha’s latest launch: They sell one of their iconic moisturisers every minute & now they’re now levelling up lip care with their Kissu Lip Ritual. A 3-step regime for full, soft & ultra-smooth lips. Our favourite? The Kissu Lip Treatment.
💦 Whoopsie: Wellness tracking brand WHOOP is getting some heat. Apparently their new Sportsflex Band isn’t living up to their bestselling material bands. Our hot take? Stick to the original bands, unless you’re planning to take your WHOOP swimming (& if thats you, you’re probably better off with something like the Garmin Venu 3S).
✨ Free YSL? Spend over £120 online at YSL and get a YSL pouch & 3 mini’s for free - yes please.
🧠 Making (brain)waves: This UK company has launched a headband that stimulates your brain to get rid of period pain - we’re officially living in the future.
👋 Pores? Not here: This viral blurring balm is trending again & we totally get it. It reduces texture & oil whilst creating the perfect base for your foundation to glide over, and most importantly, seriously stick too. PSA future brides - give this a try at your MUA trial for a shine-free base.
THE DR LIST: Naturisimo Edition
I’m just going to say it. I feel like Naturismo is majorly underrated. They did clean beauty before it was even a thing & they’re genuinely transparent about everything from the ingredients to the ethics of the brands they stock on their site. Over the years, I’ve discovered so many smaller indy brands on there too. More recently, they’ve expanded their wellness section, which is (unsurprisingly) where most of my current favourites are from below!
“Starting very strong with this dreamy clean beauty box, for just £59 (even less with your first order 15% off too!) you get £254 worth of summer beauty staples to try” | “One spray of this and I’m immediately transported to the Bamford Spa. I’m hooked” |
“I’ve raved about this one before - it’s a does-it-all-tonic with superfoods & probiotics to help boost your collagen. It actually tastes nice too.” | “I take this every morning after my ION Gut Support. It’s anti-inflammatory, antioxidant & antibacterial too. I definitely notice a difference when I run out of it. PSA, make sure to keep it in the fridge!” |
