THE INNER GLOW UP
If Itā€™s Good Enough For Molly Maeā€¦

Last week, the entire UK transformed into armchair detectives, dissecting every word of Molly Mae and Tommyā€™s respective split statements to uncover what really went down. Whether the rumours are true or not, itā€™s hard not to feel an underlying sadness about the situation. We watched their love story unfold every night on Love Island back in its prime five years ago, and Iā€™ll be honest, Iā€™ve watched more of Mollyā€™s YouTubeā€™s than Iā€™d care to admit too.

But setting the breakup aside, Molly has become an unstoppable businesses woman since she left the villa with Tommy and Ellie Belly in tow. Sheā€™s inked brand deals reportedly worth over Ā£1 million, launched her own tanning line, Filter, and has been teasing us with her latest project - her lifestyle brand (registered as MMH Lifestyle in 2023..)

So, it might come as a surprise that recently, Molly revealed on her YouTube that sheā€™s been working with a life coach over the past year.

Erm, What Even is a Life Coach?

Iā€™ve always been curious about life coaching - could I potentially benefit from one? Over the past few years, which perfectly aligned with my ā€œSaturn Return,ā€ Iā€™ve found myself searching for direction, feeling stuck, and questioning my purpose (the usual) as I edge closer to the big 3-0.

Even though Iā€™m grateful for my life, I couldnā€™t shake the feeling of, ā€œIs this really it for me?ā€

But like many, I never actually took the plungeā€”until I happened to cross paths with my now-life coach, Helen.

In a nutshell, she explained that a life coach helps you become your best selfā€”whatever that looks like for you.

Typically, this might involve figuring out your purpose, following your passions, truly discovering who you are, understanding your core values, overcoming limiting beliefs, and helping you navigate any current life obstacles.

For me, it was pretty much all of the above.

Life Coach vs. Therapist: Whatā€™s the Difference?

While there are some subtle overlaps, a life coach and a therapist serve very different purposes.

  • Life Coach ā†’ Focuses on helping you achieve personal and professional goals, with an emphasis on personal growth and maximising your potential.

  • Therapist ā†’ Typically helps you heal from past experiences and trauma, understand your psychological patterns, and support your emotional well-being.

My Honest Experience with Life Coaching

I wish I could shout it from the rooftops - after just a couple of sessions, Iā€™m convinced every woman in her 20s and 30s could benefit from a life coach.

I meet with Helen for an hour-long session every 3-4 weeks, and even when I think I have nothing much to talk about, the hour flies by. Each session typically kicks off with a review of whatever ā€œhomeworkā€ I was set last time (or the initial questionnaire if itā€™s your first session), followed by updates on how things have been progressing. Despite our short time together (and the fact that our chats are over Zoom), I feel like I can tell her anything. She creates a space where I feel heard, understood, never judged, and Iā€™ve learned so much about myself already.

I now journal most days (a habit Iā€™ve never been able to stick to before), Iā€™ve realised I need to work on my self-belief, and stop being so hard on myself for trying (& sometimes failing) to juggle everything. Iā€™ve also started using my core valuesā€”something I hadnā€™t given much (read: any) thought to beforeā€”as a checklist for my decisions and the people I surround myself with.

On top of that, Helenā€™s also been a helpful sounding board for some of my business goals & challenges. Not only is she a life coach, but sheā€™s also an entrepreneur running her marketing agency, a mum, an influencer, a podcasterā€”you name it!

On that note - itā€™s made me realise that having a life or business coach whoā€™s a good few steps ahead of where you want to be is so key here. Theyā€™ve been through the trenches, done the work, and youā€™re not just paying for their life coaching expertise, but also for their general life experience to help you fast-track your progress and get to that next stage in your life.

Thinking About It? Girl, I Did the Same.

If youā€™ve ever found yourself wondering if thereā€™s more out there for you, or youā€™re feeling stuck on your next step and in need of some guidance - a life coach could be a good call. Sure, itā€™s an investment, but thereā€™s something quite empowering about investing in becoming your best self. Plus, without getting overly woo woo here, Iā€™m convinced that the universe will pay me back one way or another purely because Iā€™m taking action.

My advice would be to make sure you genuinely look up to your life coach and to 100% have a consultation call with them, to see if you vibe, before committing to any sessions.

Huge PSA - this isnā€™t sponsored, but because of my experience with Helen, I asked if she could offer any exclusive discounts for Wellness Dose readers, & sheā€™s kindly offered to give you 10% off session packages of 6 or more. Just make sure let her know you heard about her here when you speak to her in your consultation call.

OUR TOP PICK FOR AW COMFIES

London-born athleisure brand Varley thrives when it comes to their pre-fall & autumn/winter collections, and their latest drop is no exception. While the brand has been around for a solid decade, many of us first started to take note when their viral half-zip became a global sensation around two years ago. Riding the wave of that success, Varley has doubled down on all things jackets, zip-ups, and ultra-cozy jumpers in every AW collection since, and weā€™re absolutely here for it.

Think rust-toned roll necks, versatile transitional jackets, elevated sweatshirts, and the perfect WFH lounge trousers, weā€™re obsessed.

DR Favourites:

ā€œThis colour screams A/W. I can see myself wearing this to the office as well as throwing it over black activewear after a class to feel a bit more chic for a coffee date. Iā€™d definitely buy it one size up to get the exaggerate the shoulders a littleā€.

ā€œThe collar on this sweatshirt is more elevated than their viral Vine Zip IMO. Another great one to wear for WFH calls to feel a little more put together. Plus, itā€™s in their best selling DoubleSoft, which is exactly as described - dreamy.ā€

ā€œAlso in their DoubleSoft fabric, this sweatshirt is an airport outfit essential. Pair with their slim cuff pant or a comfy grey marl legging like these & youā€™re good to goā€.

ā€œIā€™m calling it - this one will 100% sell out. Perfect over a dark wash denim jean or a simple all black active set post-Pilates. Extra points since itā€™s machine-washable too. ā€

What weā€™d ā™„ļø to see:

Weā€™ll be honest, one thing weā€™re excited to see more of from Varley is them prioritising sustainable fabrics, & being more transparent about their manufacturing. Theyā€™re a notable size now, with an opportunity to make an impact, and yet their ā€œresponsibilityā€ page says just enough to so they appear sustainable, but itā€™s notably vague.

To their credit, Varley did partner with Fairly Made back in February to enhance transparency in tracing their product originsā€”a promising move. But so far, the results of this collab are yet to be seen. After all, being a leader in athleisure means setting (& ideally, raising!) the standard in more ways than one.

THE WELLNESS WEB:

  • šŸ§  Overthinking? Itā€™s a Monday afterall. You need this brain massage

  • šŸ˜‡ Angel energy: Aka, how weā€™d feel getting an $18 million per year salary like the new Victoria Secret CEO, Hillary Super. She was previously CEO at Savage X Fenty, and her move to VS is apparently to help VS work out who they are and what theyā€™re all about (again..) after a rough few years for the brand to engineer their comeback. Our guesses? Theyā€™ll go back to their sexier roots & opt for huge collabs with IT-girls like Sabrina Carpenter.

  • šŸ’§ Dyson goes liquid: Last week, they announced the launch of their new mushroom-infused haircare line, and in true Dyson style, itā€™s techy. Launching 28th August, their pre-style cream and post-style serum boasts ā€œtriodeticā€ bonds (e.g a triangle shape vs the square shaped polymers in most haircare), to apparently give more flexibility to the hair whilst still holding a perfect air wrap curl. As for the price? Itā€™ll retail for a similar price to the DR favourites from Augustinus Bader at Ā£49 each.

  • ā›°ļø Fancy a hike? This 5* spa hotel is the perfect spot to return to after a long day out in the Austrian Alps. At Ā£345 per night with breakfast and dinner included, itā€™s one to add to your bucket list.

  • ā Talking of brands that thrive in A/W: Uggs Goldenstar clog are likely to be all over your FYP for the coming months. DR personal favourites for fall are the Chunky Bostons from Birkenstock in Dark Tea & Black - if youā€™ve regretted not getting yourself some regular Bostons to finish off your pilates fit this summer, this is your sign.
