It’s activewear season
Activewear designers across the land have been busy - with new collections dropping from pretty much every brand you can think of going into peak “New Year, New Me” season, and we’re not mad about it. Since we’ve got National Quitters Day out of the way (not that it applies to any of you readers!), we’re due an activewear treat. These are top of our DR List right now.
★ First up, we have to mention the Adanola x Kendall Jenner collection. Granted, we were a little confused (shocked, maybe?) to see Kendall teamed up with Adanola, but then again, they apparently doubled their revenue to £57mil last year, so their marketing budget is healthy, to say the least. I may or may not have purchased the chocolate set..
★ Next, PE Nation quite frankly never disappoint. It could be the fact that they’re a cool Aussie brand and for some reason I think it’ll make me also cooler when wearing it, but either way, it was hard to pick two favourites (so I’m not going to - this sweatshirt is also a need).
★ Now onto the new Because of Alice drop - reminding us that contrast trim athleisure is here to stay. Whilst I’m a fan of the zip up, I think it looks a little less chic with the leggings (I think it’s the contrast V at the back?). Pair it with plain ivory leggings instead for a more elevated look.
★ And finally, we’re heading over to Toronto for 437’s balletcore collab with Simmy Kinns. This cami and wrap combo is so feminine, and it’s the perfect way to add some extra coverage too.
One things for sure - there’s no shortage of wellness events to fill your cup this month in London. Here’s our Editor’s top picks:
W/C 13TH:
Jan 18th: Conscious Connected Breathwork Journey
Ready for a mind reset? Join Jamie Clements (aka The Breath Space) at Soul Studio in Primrose Hill for an intense breathwork session that’ll take you into an altered state of consciousness. Heads up - stuff will probably come up along the way, but one thing’s for sure: you’ll never regret spending time going inwards.Jan 19th: Rise and Reset
Yoga, vision boarding, manifesting, life coaching, and a finance chat? What more could you need to get your sh*t together for 2025. The South Asian Social community is hosting a jam-packed morning complete with chai on arrival and a nutritious lunch to keep you fuelled.
W/C 20TH:
Jan 20th: Floating Sound Bath
Picture this: it’s a Monday evening, you’re floating on top of water (yes, really), soaking in a sound bath by the one and only Zehra from The Self Love Lab, and all of your cares and worries literally just floated away. Dreamy. If you’ve tried a float tank before, you know how powerful floating can be for the mind - except this time, you won’t get wet - so, you can head home after the session, roll into bed and probably have the deepest sleep of your life.Jan 25th: Beauty Triangle’s Future of Wellness Festival
This year, the Beauty Triangle festival has gone big - doubling in size with over 7 wellness zones. There’s something for everyone, with consultations from the team behind Lanserhof at The Arts Club, gel peels from Skinceuticals, and a movement stage to get your endorphins going.Jan 25th: Cinnamon Bun Runs
Raise your hand if you’ll run for a cinnamon bun? This 16km run kicks off in Wandsworth, and you’ll be rewarded with post-run buns as you bake in your major runners high together. Perfect for those working up to a longer distance and looking for some company along the way.Jan 26th: City Girls Hike Club
Escape the city chaos and breathe in some fresh forest air with the City Girls Hike Club in Epping Forest. There’s over 70 people already signed up, so you’re bound to leave with some new connections (and an impressive step count after the 4 hour walk!).
📱 Put it Down: Trying to finally curb your screen time in 2025? Brick could be your new best friend. Think next-level notification blocking without the need to go full Light Phone (yet). This tiny device looks like a mini card reader, activating and deactivating notifications from your chosen apps. The idea? Leave the key (aka, the Brick) at home or out of sight, and suddenly, it’s harder to cave to distractions. Tempting.. just don’t lose the Brick!
💍 A New Take on Smart Rings: Meet Curdis, the subscription-free smart ring that uses blockchain verification to put data control back in your hands. Instead of your health data being taken as standard by third parties, Curdis lets you decide who gets access. Don’t mind them getting your data? Great - sell it! Apparently, it could earn you up to $5K a year. A side hustle, whilst you sleep..
🌞 Track it: In a world where it seems that anything can be tracked, optimised, and commoditised (see above!) - there's now an app to track your sunlight exposure. Honestly, we all know we could probably get outside more without an app telling us - but hey, Oura, if you’re reading, this feature should be part of your ring’s line up already.
🧘♀️ Up your zen: Dreaming of Japan in 2025? These wellness retreats make you feel a little more zen even just scrolling online. Imagine how you’ll actually feel when you check in. Or, have you ever considered a Japanese wellness cruise? Us neither until we saw this.
🩸 Time to Thriva: At-home blood testing just got a lot easier with Thriva’s new autodraw device. It looks a little like a blood glucose monitor, only bigger, and it slowly draws the blood you need over a 5-minute period. No more stress over getting enough blood from your finger prick (been there!). If you’re unsure what supplements you need, an at-home test like Thriva should be on your list.
🥜 Huberman coded: David protein bars, backed by Huberman, just dropped two new peanut-flavored combos - and honestly, it’s like they read our minds. While Huberman himself admits they’re no replacement for a whole food diet, they’re a handy way to get 28g of protein on the go if your day is absolutely hectic and a trip to The Salad Project isn’t on the cards.
🧘 Mentally Here: The Well just announced their new Coconut Grove wellness residential project in Miami - and it’s literally heaven on earth. Okay, a one-bed starts at $1.5 million.. but the amenities? A wellness girly’s dream.
Think on-site bath house, hyperbaric chamber and a private rooftop pool club - we could go on. Sadly it’s not launching until 2028, but at least we’ve got plenty of time to save. *adds to vision board immediately.
Having launched her PR agency at 22 with £250, to now having a multi-million client roster of some of the biggest brands in fashion, wellness & lifestyle (think: Abercrombie, Third Space & Grind), it’s safe to say Emily Austen knows a thing or two about scaling a successful business. But her journey hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. Emily has shared candidly about how she wished she’d been kinder to herself in her 20s. She went head first into her #Girlbossera, leaving her overworked, with a jam-packed diary that ultimately left no time for the things that made her happy.
Since then, she’s shifted gears, hosting a top-rated business podcast that creates space for honest conversations with founders about success, balance, and living an abundant life on their own terms.
Today we’re chatting to Emily about her Daily Rituals (ofc) and her newest venture - her book, SMARTER. In it, she shares everything she’s learned over the past 12 years to lay out a new blueprint for achieving success, being productive & living a less-stressed life.
⚬ Emily, Let’s start with a quote of yours: “There’s a difference between a busy life and a full one.” What does that mean to you?
I don’t think an enriching life is one in which I am always so busy and bursting at the seams but not actually personally fulfilled. Life can be big and full without being draining or peppered with things you don’t want to do. In my 20s, I equated busyness with value - I was overbooking my life and performing to impossible standards. But busyness doesn’t necessarily mean progress or value, and your life being busy does not mean it’s full - they’re different.
⚬ What about on weeks when life feels more busy than full? Any go-to hacks?
I’m very intentional about knowing what’s urgent versus what’s important. If I feel overwhelmed, I’ll consolidate meetings, delegate tasks, and focus on what truly needs my input. Delegation has been a huge mindset shift - it feels counterintuitive when you’re someone who thrives on ticking tasks off, but I follow the rule that if someone else can do it, they should. That leaves me with the tasks that only I can do. If all else fails, I tap into my ‘shit kit’: I’ll clear my weekend to reset, adjust my workout routine, push any early morning meetings and track my energy instead of my time.
⚬ Many of our readers are in “successful” corporate 9-5s but feel like they’re destined for more. What advice would you give them?
Whilst my job satisfies certain parts of my life, creatively, financially etc. it doesn’t do everything. It took me a while to realise this, but no one thing - your job, your partner, or even your passions - can fulfil all your needs. Rather than focusing on your job for enhanced satisfaction, try looking laterally - explore hobbies, relationships, or other areas of life that might be lacking. Variety is key to fulfilment and to keep our energy resources (spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional) stimulated whilst also exploring and satisfying our ever-changing interests.
⚬ Congratulations on your bestselling book, SMARTER! Who’s it for?
Thank you! SMARTER is the book I wish I’d had - it's for those who strive for success; for ambitious women wanting to do it all, those who understand that you have to make a deposit to be able to make a withdrawal. The full-timers and the 'not quite made it yetters'. Those who are looking for a smarter way to do it.
⚬ How did you balance writing SMARTER alongside running your businesses?
The process up to the launch was a dream - it felt like the ultimate creative project. As my day job is running a PR Agency, the promotional cycle and marketing came naturally and was great fun. But after the launch, I experienced a “creative comedown.” Stepping into the spotlight after years of promoting others was overwhelming, and I had to remind myself that the book is a long-term project. That perspective helped me reframe my expectations and get excited about what I’ll be able to do with it in 2025.
⚬ Talking of managing it all, what are some Daily Rituals you live by to stay sane?
I start every day by making someone else’s better - whether that’s paying for their coffee, giving a compliment, or offering help. I believe in the power of ‘helper’s high.’ I also listen to Harry Potter or The Hobbit daily - they’re comforting and don’t distract me from tasks. Finally, I move my body every day, whether it’s walking, cycling, Pilates, or the gym.
⚬ You’ve shared openly about your physical transformation over the past few years - what has that journey taught you?
I was bullied terribly throughout school and university, and it was always around the topic of my weight, so it’s been a process of healing old wounds. I learned that transformation often starts with addressing emotional triggers, not just changing habits. Wellness is easier with privilege - like having access to a PT or high-quality products - but undoing learned behaviours takes patience. Once I started healing internally, the physical changes followed.
⚬ Rumour has it you’re a reformer girly! Do you have a go-to studio?
I am! Reformer Pilates wasn’t easy at the start of my journey - it’s not always designed for bigger bodies - but now I love it. My favourites are Heartcore in London and SLT in New York.
⚬ Do you have a favourite wellness or beauty treatment right now?
I recently tried Polynucleotides around my mouth, but honestly, my favourite treatment is still sitting in a steam room. The one at Third Space Soho is amazing - it’s great for my skin and helps me unwind.
⚬ Finally, who’s your go-to person you’re gatekeeping right now?
Brené Brown is my modern-day oracle, but I also love Vanessa Kingori and Chris Donnelly. Chris has been hugely successful as an entrepreneur, and his TikTok’s cut through the noise on tricky topics.
DR Readers - I had the chance to read Emily’s book before this interview and it really is a guide to a full & purposeful life for high achievers who are prone to burn out. There’s plenty of actionable tips and exercises, plus, it’s a super easy read - Emily herself is not trying to sound smarter, she gets her point across in a refreshingly straightforward and honest way. It’s one I’ll be referring back to yearly.
A reset, for your cells
Alright, ladies, this one’s not *actually for you. It’s for your parents, aunts, uncles - basically anyone 40+ you want to keep around for a while.
Over the past year, I’ve become that person, constantly reminding my parents about the supplements they should be taking. One I’ve been going on (and on) about recently is Mitopure by Timeline. It gives your cells a much-needed reset, focusing on the mitochondria (hello, GCSE science, it's been a minute) As we age, they get sluggish, leaving us tired and less efficient. Mitopure helps fix that thanks to Urolithin A. It boosts mitochondrial function, supports muscle regeneration, and offers anti-inflammatory benefits. Best part? Early studies suggest it might even help you live longer. Get yours.
