Making (brain) waves
Ever had a parent warn you that too much phone time would lead to brain cancer? Well, according to a new study from the WHO, that concern is looking a lot less scary than we once thought (*picks up phone*).
What’s the DL?
Recent research found no clear evidence that our phones (or other wireless tech emitting radio-frequency electromagnetic radiation.. try saying that after a rosé) are linked to brain cancer.
But, how is that possible?
Turns out, the previous research might’ve jumped the gun a bit. In fairness, they issued warnings suggesting potential harm, but many took that as a definitive yes. This new review shows that even with our screen time skyrocketing (damn you TikTok makeup tutorials), there hasn’t been a significant increase in brain cancer cases.
Make it make sense
The radiation your phone emits? It’s non-ionising, meaning it doesn’t have enough energy to break chemical bonds or damage your cells. Compare that to ionising radiation (like from X-rays or UV rays), which can actually mess with your cells. Big difference.
Are EMF risks still a thing?
Potentially. While phone radiation is non-ionising, it’s still a form of EMF (electromagnetic field). And in the wellness world, there’s concerns about prolonged exposure. Some studies suggest that EMF might disrupt melatonin production (the hormone that makes you want to crawl into bed).
★ THE DR VERDICT →
If you’re feeling cautious, you could invest in an EMF-blocking phone case, but a word of warning - they’re not cute (exhibit A - but, it could be a potential biz idea for a Wellness Dose reader to make some cute ones?!). In the meantime, try to resist those late-night doom scrolls & switch to airplane mode more often. It cuts the EMF exposure significantly, giving your brain that much-needed break.
🍃 A higher state of self-care: Things just got a little more chill at this wellness hotel in Koh Samui. Guests can now indulge in “cannabis-infused” experiences, from immersive bathing rituals to sound healing & guided meditation.
💧 Make it waterless: 2024’s newest natural beauty trend is all about waterless beauty. Concentrated formulas that last longer, waste less and do more? Yes please. Our faves are this matcha-based cleanser & iconic microfoliant.
😴 A sleep hack to try?: Cognitive shuffling. It sounds fancy but it’s really just about shifting your thoughts away from those 11pm stress spirals. Pick a letter, think of random words starting with it, visualise them (e.g. lipgloss, Lululemon, lavender) - and move on to the next. Brain shuffled, stress-free sleep incoming.
🪐 Mixed Metals: Chrome nails were everywhere at NYFW. Whether you’re mixing them with a pop of colour or going all out glazed donut, this at-home mirror effect powder is the easiest way to get the look.
💍 Spiked our interest: Oura Ring 4 is on its way, but the big news? They just acquired Veri, the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) brand. Sadly, the tech won’t be integrated into future rings any time soon, but expect a glucose-tracking add-on to your Oura sub in 2025.
🍫 Wrapped in gold: How to stand out in a crowded market? Call your brand David and wrap it in gold foil. This Huberman-backed protein bar created by the RXBAR founder is already going viral on TikTok thanks to its impressive macros. As always, we’ll patiently wait for the UK launch.. Until then, we’ll continue to savour this dreamy soft protein bar instead.
👀 Another J-Beauty hit: Can we understand anything thats on the packaging of this viral Japanese eye cream? Nope. Did we buy it anyway? Sure did. This TikToker swears by it (& apparently the skincare girlies of TikTok do too..) and it’s only £9.

This week, we’re coming in hot with a manifestation hack using ChatGPT. It’s giving wellness girly meets tech barbie 💅🏼
Write a list of your wildest dreams you want to achieve in the next 5 years.
Copy & paste this prompt into ChatGPT:
“Now that I’ve sent you my wildest dreams, I’d like you to do the following.
1. Tell a short story of a day in the life of future me who has achieved all of these dreams & don’t skip any details that will make it feel real.
2. Tell me what books should I read to help me achieve this lifestyle?
3. List 10 affirmations I should repeat daily to help me achieve this lifestyle.”Once you’ve taken it all in, then ask: “Tell me the actionable steps I can take to help me get to this dream lifestyle in the next 5 years.”
HOT TIP★: If you’re into all things human design (same girl), ask it to “subtly add in your authority & strategy”, so that your response feels even more realistic.
Handbag essentials
By now, you know we’re all about low-maintenance, high-reward rituals, & Zooki collagen ticks all of the boxes. Whether you’re travelling or tossing it in your Mary Poppins work bag, their sachets have you covered. DR favourites? The Super Strength collagen range, packing 2.2x the power of their OG bestseller. Plus, if you’re into girl maths - six months of Zooki costs less than a single Botox session (and let’s be honest, we all know which one’s better for your body and those fine lines in the long run).
If you’ve already got your collagen on lockdown, go for their Passionfruit Liposomal KSM-66 Ashwagandha to regulate cortisol & reduce stress on-the-go.
Our favourite way to Zooki? Drizzled over our oat bowl at the ultra-wholesome cafe, OATIS. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.
