☆ Honest thoughts on a new wellness trend, NASA-approved skincare, botox chat
Plus your invite to our WhatsApp community, a meditation app that beat ChatGPT, a study on workout timing and much more.
Hey lovely,
Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals, back with your Wellness Dose.
We had a couple of posts go a little wild last week week, so if you're new here - welcome to the club!
Exciting news - I'm launching an invite-only WhatsApp community this month for the Wellness Dose girlies. It'll be your space to swap product reccs, ask for girl-to-girl advice and even get first dibs to sample products from brands. Since huge group chats are absolutely not a vibe, membership will be capped - you can secure your spot by referring just 3 friends/co-workers/workout partners to the newsletter (your link is at the bottom of this email).
As always, thank you for being here. I'm so grateful for you.

🧘♀️ For the meditation-curious: This free meditation app by a prominent spiritual leader just shattered records with 1 million downloads in 15 hours (outpacing ChatGPT). We tested it and it wasn't quite our vibe (Othership is our go-to), but since it's free and requires just 7 minutes a day, it’s worth seeing if it’s for you.
🔥 It's about damn time: This new award-winning AI-driven sexual wellness device (launch date, TBC) learns what you like using biofeedback sensors to create "personalised pleasure programmes" via their app.
💄 New beauty worth noting: The beauty industry's equivalent of fashion week hit Bologna at Cosmoprof 2025 with 3,000+ exciting brands exhibiting. Standouts include a make-up kiosk that analyses your skin tone before printing you a custom palette (yes, printing), and a self-sanitising compact that you charge up to keep bacteria at bay. The future of beauty is here, and we like it a lot.
📢 It’s official: Hot girls take creatine. Here’s what you need to know.
🏋️♀️ Workout stacking: A new study found that longer weekend workouts can reduce anxiety by 35% if you miss weekday sessions when life gets crazy. Our take? Even a 15-minute home workout will give you a boost after a rough day in the office. Plus, walking 5k+ steps daily has been linked to fewer depressive symptoms - so take the stairs, get off the tube a stop early & you’ll squeeze in your exercise without even noticing.
🥤 Your Diet Coke is making you hungry: Artificial sweeteners confuse your brain (it expects calories from the sweetness, that don’t arrive) and a new study found this reduces your "I'm full" signal, causing you to eat more. Whilst we’re partial to a crisp Diet Coke in the summer, it’s worth switching for healthier options if you’re a frequent drinker of sodas with artificial sweeteners.
💎 Protecting your energy: Celebs love EMF-protecting necklaces that supposedly reduce exposure to electromagnetic fields that could be linked to unexplained illnesses. The science is questionable, but one doc suggests they could help those with toxin sensitivities. Most available options are ugly AF -FYI, this is Elle Macpherson’s choice. Potential biz idea - if our cute gold chain also potentially protected us from EMFs, would we pay a bit more? Probably.
🚀 Skincare from space: Fast Company's innovative beauty hot list just dropped featuring this otherworldly brand whose core ingredient was discovered by NASA astronauts. It acts as an SPF-booster (of sorts) while improving hydration & radiance by 30% after one use. Also making the list: ultra-nostalgic SPF brand Vacation, who just launched their eau de toilette version of their popular sunscreen scent for those sunkissed evenings you never want to end.

You’re invited to the Matcha Social Club
LONDON GIRLIES, WE’RE BACK
On the morning of Sunday April 27th, we’re taking over How Matcha for the Matcha Social Club vol.2 🍵
Last time, we had a waitlist of over 72 women (still a little crazy to me), and we had such a dreamy morning connecting over matcha.
Something that I’m honestly so grateful for is the kind of women these events attract - everyone is insanely talented, ambitious, working on themselves and just generally doing really cool sh*t.
This time, we’re meeting at Marylebone’s hottest matcha bar, How Matcha, and we’ve even got some Daily Rituals exclusive items available on the menu too.
So, if it sounds like your vibe, come join in on the fun on Sunday April 27th.

Since our video chatting all things botox caused a bit of heat this week, let’s stay on topic.

Your hydrating wrong
APPARENTLY REGULAR HYDRATION IS SO 2024
Last week, deep in wellness research, I noticed that "ionised alkaline water" is gaining serious traction in the UK and US, with over 200k searches a month. A quick TikTok scroll revealed that some wellness girlies have started to add it to their line up too (surprisingly, the viral 3am morning routine guy missed this step). So, if like me, your immediate response was "wtf is that and why isn't filtered (or god forbid, regular tap) water sufficient for us mere mortals?" - let's break it down.
★ What actually is it?
It's essentially water that's had an electrical current run through it – which separates it into alkaline and acidic streams. The alkaline part is what some are dropping £2k on machines to produce, but why, I hear you (quite rightly) ask?
★ The supposed benefits?
Increased hydration – the "smaller water clusters" could supposedly make it easier for your body to absorb. Now I don't know about you - I wasn't too hot in GCSE Science, but a quick search suggests this goes against basic principles of Chemistry.
pH balance – apparently it helps neutralise excess acidity in the body (this is what most people's kidneys and lungs already do perfectly)
Antioxidant boost – because of the extra hydrogen molecules that are in the water.
THE DR VERDICT →
Not worth the kitchen counter space (or the eye-watering price tag). The science is lacking and our bodies already do some pretty incredible things on their own. Filtered water, we can 100% get behind though, especially if you're a US babe - your water unfortunately sucks (this water quality postcode checker could come in handy for you though). Even in the UK, whilst our water is pretty damn good overall, there's varying levels of chlorine, microplastics and other nasties depending on your postcode (less than ideal for both your gut and that expensive skincare routine you're investing in).
Thankfully, there's plenty of options that won't require a second mortgage:
For ultra-clean water: A solid reverse osmosis system (removes virtually everything including microplastics). Just make sure you're either adding the good minerals back in, or keeping topped up on your electrolytes.
For water that's kinder to your hair and skin: This go-to shower filter, and this one for your bath.
For an antioxidant hit: If you're curious about the anti-inflammatory hydrogen benefits without the alkaline hype, try H2 tabs. We rate this bottle for on-the-go too.

QUIZ ANSWER: Believe it or not, the entire globes supply of Botox is created in a tiny Irish town called Westport by a drug company called Allergan. “Whether you’re in Hollywood or acting in London’s West End, your Botox is 100% guaranteed Irish”. Who’d have thought it.
