šŸ•ŗ This could be the weirdest workout class you'll ever take

Plus the new cool girl trainers, making our hair smell expensive & Gwyneth's bathroom

Last week, I found out that VS models are obsessed with moringa powder for their pre-show clear skin prep. It’s packed with vitamin A & natural antibacterial properties, so best believe I ordered some immediately. Granted, it tastes like grass, & like most things, will take a good few months to notice a difference. As well as adding it to my green ā€˜smoothie’, I’m going to try it in a DIY mask too (mixing a little with raw honey & rose water). I’ll report back next month & give you my unfiltered 411.

In your weekly dose:

  • How much? London’s swanky new wellness club is the new home of the Tracy Anderson Method.

  • Smokey, but not like a bonfire: hair perfume is so 2023 (apparently). We’ve stepped it up a level.

  • The wellness web: Gwyneth Paltrow’s spa-sized bathroom, the new ClassPass for wellness events, a self-care book worth reading, and much more.

  • Cool girl trainers: so cool you need two pairs to nail the look.

LONDON’S NEW Ā£15K WELLNESS CLUB
Legs in the air, sweat dripping & no talking means one thing only

Tracy Anderson just launched her first UK studio at Knightsbridge’s swankiest longevity and wellbeing club in London, SURRENNE.

And fans aren’t happy.

If you’re not sure who Tracy Anderson is, or the #TAM, I’d put a bet on the fact you’ve probably seen one of her classes on your feed before.

Calling her method unconventional would be an understatement - bands hanging from the ceiling, sweat dripping in the heated studio & to top it off, you’ve got a trainer who remains silent throughout the class. It’s somewhat akin to the craziness F45 classes (albeit at least they talk you through their madness) but with a 90’s workout DVD, pilates-inspired twist.

Fans of the TAM voiced their frustration after they found out that despite being online members (already paying Ā£70 per month), to experience her classes IRL, they’d have to fork out Ā£15,000 (Ā£10k membership + Ā£5k joining fee) for the year to join the members-only club where the classes are held in London.

And how many classes does that get you I hear you ask? One per month.

Our hot take?

The members club looks incredibly dreamy (albeit, of course, we haven’t seen it in the flesh), still, it’s pretty hard to justify the price. I won’t lie - I was pretty disappointed that there’s no option to try one class & scope out SURRENNE’s facilities.

I’ve done a class with one of the TAM trainers at Studio FIX (side note, why are so many studios in captials, I FEEL LIKE THEY’RE SHOUTING AT ME) in Kensington, and thats what I’ll continue to do. The trainer was incredible & the thought of him not cheering everyone along, singing to Taylor Swift during the class seems crazy to me.

THE LATEST HOT GIRL TREND

High-maintenance clean girlies, listen up

No matter how incredible your shampoo is (my fave is currently the Augustinus Bader The Rich), the smell never lasts longer than a few hours. Sure, you could spray a hair perfume onto your locks, but sadly most are alcohol-based & dry out your hair.

So, if you’ve been looking for an alternative, look no further.

WHAT IS IT

Oudgasm, an Oud Bakhoor - aka, perfumed oud wood chips by Kayali. Monna Kattan (aka Huda Beauty), the brains behind the Kayali brand explained that she uses a Bakhoor comb, like this one, to smoke (yes, smoke) the oud perfume into her locks.

Naturally, we had to try it.

THE DR VERDICT

  • Although I was slightly concerned I’d smell more like a bonfire (or that my hair would feel like it needed a wash afterwards), I was so wrong.

  • Granted, the Bakhoor comb is no Dyson. We could probably do with Huda bringing us out a more techy one, but it just about did the job. My hair smelt incredible for at least 36 hours.

  • Even if you don’t smoke it into your hair, having this burning around the house immediately transports you to an über-luxurious Middle-Eastern hotel.

  • Side note: keep it for special occasions only - burning any incense (& most candles for that matter) releases chemicals, which isn’t going to be great for your longer-term respiratory health.

TRENDING: SAMBAS OUT, ALOHAS TB.490 IN

Everyone (& your auntie) has a pair of Samba’s at this point, & so it’s no surprise theres a new trainer set to be everywhere this summer. The cool girls of instagram are wearing their’s mis-matched and we’re here for it.

So, if there’s any size 6 girlies who want to swap a shoe out so I don’t need to buy two pairs of the TB.490, hit me up.

THE WELLNESS WEB:

  • šŸ›€ Gwyneth Paltrow showed us around her bathroom: Granted it’s more like a hotel spa, and sadly she didn’t show us specifically, but either way, it’s worth a peek.

  • šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø The ClassPass of wellness events: This new platform has just made it easier to find your next wellness events in London. We’re talking sound baths, manifestation workshops & energy healing.

  • šŸ‘„ A digital beauty shelf?: a new app set to launch later this year is the perfect blend of LTK & instagram for beauty.

  • šŸ“š Read this: it’s rare self-care books don’t feel preachy or 98% full of fluff, this one called is actually worth reading.

  • šŸ‘“ Watch this: @elysia.mehmet gave the best pep talk for when you feel like you should be further on with your life / have your sh*t together by now.

  • šŸ‘øšŸ½ A weekend treat: this Oxfordshire Manor is the perfect weekend wellness escape, & a great alternative to Soho Farmhouse (plus you don’t need to be a member).

THE DR LIST

ā€œThis mask is one of the few that actually hits the mark for irradiance, wavelength & dose (aka, it will actually make a difference to your skinā€

ā€œMonochrome active is going no where & this flattering square neck crop is my current faveā€.

ā€œIt’s rare a book like this sneaks into my evening line up (I’m a fiction girly through & through) but this one goes deep. Worth a readā€

ā€œIt’s not cheap but I’m surprised at how long it’s lasted me so far (& I double wash every time I use it too). Super volumising, but unlike most volume shampoos my hair feels so clean & soft after using it.ā€
