Extra sprinkle of wellness
We’ve all been there: balancing a career, social life, workouts, side hustles, and somehow squeezing in some self-care too. It’s a lot. And while we’re busy conquering the world (one Joe Dispenza meditation at a time), we could all benefit from some extra help to get our nutrients in when life comes at us hard. Enter: superfood powders. Low-maintenance lifesavers to mix into smoothies, oats, or water for a daily glow up, both inside & out. Here’s a round up of the ones we’re loving right now:
For clear, glowing skin:
Aduna’s Superfood Blend with spirulina, chlorella, and barley grass is one we always go crawling back to when our skin is in need of some extra love. It helps fight acne-causing toxins and balances oil production. Sure, it tastes green, but the payoff? Definitely worth it. Try it with apple cider vinegar and take it like a shot to get it over with asap.
For an immunity boost:
Start your day with Indi’s iconic Body sachet. There’s honestly not much that this one doesn’t include in the superfood department (moringa, purple carrot, acai berry, chicory root, turmeric, reishi..), and it tastes like a berry smoothie when mixed with water.
Prefer your superfood powders warm? Go for this blend from Phyto Nectars. Whisk it with hot milk (and a sprinkle of cinnamon) & it’s basically a hug in a mug. Plus, it’s packed with phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals & mushrooms to supercharge your immune system.
For a happy gut:
Hot girls have IBS - it’s a thing, okay. But with this 4-in-1 gut blend packed with 25 billion live cultures, prebiotic fibres, and digestive enzymes, you’re on your way to keep everything running, well, smoothly. Plus, the Belgian Chocolate flavour tastes like a chocolate milkshake mixed with milk. Hot tip: add ION Gut Support into your regime alongside this for a few months to repair any gaps in your gut lining (yes, it’s a thing) & keep the good stuff in.
For PMS relief:
Designed to make your TOM significantly less dreadful, this blend from the new female-founded brand Gigi combines 15 top-tier ingredients into a tasty lemonade-flavoured drink. Hero’s include dandelion, inositol and Aquamin (a mineral-rich blend of magnesium & calcium), all great at working wonders at balancing our hormones and generally making us happier human beings.
★ THE DR VERDICT →
Superfood powders won’t replace the world class basics of good sleep, exercise, whole foods and hydration. But, for busy women on the go (aka, you) they’re a great way to fill in the gaps when meal prepping slips off your to-do list. Honestly, our favourite superfood powders we enjoy mostly as an alternative to a sweet treat, that also happens to have some added goodness. Plus, they’re a Daily Ritual that’s so easy to stick to - no stress, just an extra dose of wellness, with minimal effort.
✨ Ready for a reset? This journal is designed to help you declutter your mind & manifest your dream life, every Sunday, & it looks cute af.
🙅♀️ Count me out: Craving some chill time, but feeling guilty about saying no to a friend? Apparently we all overestimate the consequences of politely declining an invite. Sure, there’s nuances (do it nicely & probably don’t bail last minute), but according to this study, we’re in our heads more than we need to be.
🤖 We’ve (nearly) entered the future: Kabata Dumbbells use AI to count your reps and coach you in real time. Not sure if you should up the weight? They’ll let you know when you’re ready and also when to tone it down to avoid injury, all based on your rep speed. They’re currently offering early bird offers as part of their crowdfunding campaign too.
👜 Want to work in wellness? Skin + Me, Runna, Hertility & TRIP all made it onto LinkedIn’s Top 20 Startups list for 2024 thanks to their growth & investor attention. Most offer equity as part of your package too.
😎 Well, duh: It’s finally been proven that going on holiday prevents premature aging. So, if you needed a sign to book a dreamy hotel like this, here it is.
🌴 An urban oasis: If you happen to have a spare £2m knocking about, this new Berkeley development comes with a concierge, a thermal spa & an indoor aqua sanctuary. Boujee.
📱Keep it out of bed: A new study says it’s where you use your phone, not when, that affects your sleep the most at night. So, keep the scrolling outside the sheets for better sleep.
💉 Botox in a bottle? Tiktok is going wild for this instant firming serum, and it’s currently £10 off here.
Keep scrolling for the new launches to know about this week 💅🏼
Lumi launched their new at-home infrared sauna. It’s tardis-like, ultra-lux and designed to be more compact than others on the market.
Therabody launched their 6th generation Theragun massage device, the PRO Plus. Now with added heat & cold therapy, plus a breathwork app to use during your recovery session.
Current Body released their Series 2 Mask - it’s £100 more than their original, but it offers an improved fit, more bulbs and extra near-infrared wavelengths for deep skin renewal. It does still offer the same irradiance (power) as their original though, and whilst it’s not everything, it’s worth bearing in mind.
Glow Recipe launched their adult acne serum to compete with favourites like Clearstem & Environ. The 0.16% triple retinol complex works to clarify and resurface the skin, with hydrating ingredients like blackberry extract and glycerin leaving the skin nourished, and ofc, glowy.
Adios oat milk
By now, you know we’re all about balance around here – nothing’s off-limits, everything in moderation. But we’re also partial to simple swaps that taste better and pack in more nutrition per calorie. That’s where Biomel’s dairy-free gut health milks come into play. My iced matcha? Never creamier. While their chocolate gut shots get all the hype, the coconut and salted caramel are my current go-to’s. I keep the mini's for the office & the full-sized ones for home.
Full disclosure: calorie wise, they’re about the same as oat milk, but Biomel comes packed with gut-loving cultures & added vitamins, so it’s a worthwhile switch. And if you’re looking to step it up a notch in the gut department, try adding your health shot to their newest launch, their gut blend. It’s a travel must-have, doesn’t take up any fridge space & contains more live cultures than their milks. Plus, it’s also got added digestive enzymes and prebiotic fibres, and it works out less ££ per serving too. When you first start using it, you might notice you’re a little, well, windy, for a few days. But that’s just your body getting used to all the new healthy gut bacteria it was missing.
PSA, don’t use Biomel products with boiling water - you’ll kill the bacteria before it makes its way into your gut. They’re a treat best enjoyed over ice or stirred into cosy warm oats.
