☆ Biohack like a woman, a Yorkshire spa to visit, Alo's new launch

Plus Forbes' top hotel openings for 2025, why you ought to drink hot cocoa, the Glow Guide is here, and much more.

Hey lovely,

Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals! I’m so excited to share something we’ve been working on together - our first-ever GLOW GUIDE. A few weeks ago, I asked you to spill your go-to wellness, beauty, and self-care faves in our GLOW survey, and wow, did you deliver. After sifting through hundreds of responses (and narrowing it down to the top 25 most-loved picks for each question), it’s safe to say the Daily Rituals girlies really are that girl.

The results are a fun little peek into what’s actually trending in wellness right now. Spoiler alert: You all have immaculate taste (but I already knew that).

Thank you to everyone who took part - you’re the reason this community keeps glowing. Let’s get into it!

As always, I’m grateful to have you here! Enjoy xo

Meet the Woman Aging Slower Than Bryan Johnson

Last week, billionaire biohacker Bryan Johnson hit the headlines (again) after temporarily losing his vision in his $2M-per-year quest to live forever. Why this time? He attempted a facial fat transfer as part of his "Project Babyface" (because even Bryan doesn’t want to look old, no matter how youthful his organs might be). But with barely any fat on his body to work with (the privilege), he had to use donor fat cells. Long story short, his body said “absolutely not,” leading to a pretty scary allergic reaction.

And whilst I appreciate his willingness to play human guinea pig for the rest of us, it’s hard not to feel like longevity is currently a rich person’s game. Is eternal youth reserved only for the billionaire Bryans of the world?

STEP ASIDE, BRYAN

That's what I thought, at least. Until I heard about Julie Gibson Clark. A 56-year-old mum who’s ageing slower than Bryan himself - and she’s doing it on just $12 a day. The proof? The “Rejuvenation Olympics,” where Julie beat Bryan (you go girl) with an ageing pace of 0.66 for every year (roughly 34% slower than the average human).

And for someone ageing in reverse, her routine is surprisingly normal.

56, GOING ON 37: JULIE’S ANTI-AGEING STACK

★ Greens. Are. Life:

Julie’s day is basically a love letter to greens. She kicks off with her “mean green drink” (blended greens + collagen protein), moves onto her “greens latte” (think cooked-down leafy greens blended with homemade bone broth, from this book), and lunches on a veggie bowl (leafy greens, sweet potatoes, purple carrots, plus “whatever protein she has”). All organic, of course.

★ Moments of zen:

She’s a fan of Transcendental Meditation (as are a lot of celebs & CEOs, as I’ve spoken about here). But she keeps it real - rather than the recommended 40 minutes, she opts for 20 minutes a day post-lunch to keep her calm and sleep better that evening.

★ Huberman approved workouts:

She works out six days a week, mixing it up the intensity & duration. A usual week looks like:

  • 2x full body resistance training days (a must for longevity!)

  • 1x VO2 max training (short, intense intervals for heart health)

  • 3x zone 2 cardio sessions (e.g. brisk walks).

It might sound a lot on first read, but most of her sessions are under 45 minutes.

★ Mini “Spa” Days:

Aka, her daily 5 minute cold shower & 30 minute sauna combo that she “treats herself to” after each workout. Kudos.

JULIES “TREAT”

★ Early dinners:

Unlike Bryan who doesn’t eat for a lofty 12 hours before bed, Julie opts for a much more achievable 3.

★ Bedtime walk:

She aims for 6-12k steps per day, and says her evening walk is her new go-to to help clear her head before bed. (Side note: since walking in the pitch black is anything but calming (at least where I live..) rather than risking life & limb, get yourself a walking pad).

★ Daily supplements:

Okay, there’s A LOT. The most expensive is her longevity favourite, NOVOS Core, at £97 for a 30-day supply. Fun fact: when she started taking NOVOS, it was part of a clinical trial. Her results showed that it reduced her pace of ageing by 8%. Impressive.

★ 9pm lights out:

In fairness, she gets up at 5am so she’s not getting loads of sleep. A very normal (albeit hard for most of us) 8 hours.

★ Coffee free:

She’s a big fan of green tea and she admits she drinks a lot of it too. Coffee is “hard on her joints”, albeit that’s a personal thing (thankfully).

THE (NOT-SO-SECRET) LONGEVITY SAUCE

Julie’s secret? Word class basics. No experimental blood swaps with her kids (still weird, Bryan, if you’re reading..), no £1,000-per-hour docs, and definitely no OTT daily protocols.

But, let’s also call a spade a spade - genetics play a role here. Her Dad was a NASA astronaut for god's sake - she’s got some great DNA going on.

THE DR VERDICT →

Still, Julie’s approach is mostly simple (& quite wholesome, tbh) in what can sometimes seem like the over-the-top & out of reach biohacking world. Unlike Bryan, she’s not trying to live forever either, she just wants to live well, be happy, spend time with her kid & travel the world as much as possible

I’ll add also - she’s single too.. Make of that what you will.

The cheatsheet? Gym. Greens. Sauna. Steps. Sleep. Repeat until further notice.

  • 🧬Finally, some good news: New research suggests that Covid-19 might, in certain cases, reduce cancerous cells. It’s early days, but scientists are cautiously intrigued.

  • 💆‍♀️ Great tea, even better spas.. Molly Mae raved about this dreamy £500-a-night Yorkshire spa last week. Reviews say it’s worth every penny, but if you’d like to spa break up north for a little less, this Soho Farmhouse-style Estate deserves a spot on your list. Continuing our homage to Yorkshire, Love Island’s Montanna Brown just opened her own “wellness-led” hotel, Saltmoore, in Whitby (also home to some of the UK’s best fish & chips, FYI).

  • 🌍 Book this: Forbes just dropped it’s favourite hotel openings for next year, and unsurprisingly, it leans heavy on the wellness front. We’re personally torn between this Bali paradise and a chic European retreat. Decisions, decisions..

  • 🍫 Drink up: Not that you needed an excuse (because, chocolate), but research suggests cocoa’s flavanols may help keep your blood vessels happy, especially when sipped with a “fatty” meal. Don’t have to tell us twice.

  • 👟 Not again: If Birkenstocks and Uggs had a bougie baby, they’d look like Alo’s new “recovery slippers”. It retails for £168 (yes, we gasped too), they feature a “high-rebound” cushion sole… Unless you’re running ultramarathons daily (if you are, please DM us), a hot bath with plenty of epsom salts will likely do the trick. But hey, if an Alo clog (sorry, *recovery shoe) shoe speaks to your soul, who are we to judge?

  • 🧠 Brain food: High St faves Holland & Barrett, just shared their 2025 wellness predictions. Top picks include psychobiotics (aka good bacteria for your brain), oral health glow-ups (hello remineralising toothpaste) and paring it back to basics when it comes to skincare with products like jojoba oil, snail mucin & bio-retinol. Our prediction? Recovery shoes. Everywhere

  • 🤖 AI Derm: Gen Z is turning to ChatGPT for skincare advice, but the results vary from basic to a little baffling. Apparently, most of us trust it more than beauty magazines, and yet most of ChatGPT’s “expertise” is sourced mostly from those same high-ranking beauty sites. Proceed with caution.

  • 🎯 What’s your Misogi? Inspired by a Japanese tradition, founders are taking on a yearly “Misogi” - one bold, transformative challenge to shape their year mentally and physically. Grace Beverley talked about it here with the Founder of Saie, and it’s worth a listen.

  • 🎥 You go, Glen Coco: TikTok is going wild over the transformations of their favourite Hollywood celebs (erm, hello, Lindsay Lohan!). Rumour has it that this doc is behind it all

  • 💍 Upgrade your Oura: If you’re eyeing an Oura ring for Christmas but aren’t obsessed with the industrial aesthetic, we’ve got you. Add two £12 eternity rings, and voilà - you’ve just created a statement piece - exhibit A.

  • 👏🏽 Workout inspo: Lacking motivation for your Monday workout? This energy will help.
