☆ An underrated sleep app, a Doc's 12-month bridal skincare routine, a big announcement

Plus Varley's new Spring collection, 2-ingredient protein crisps, single-serve skincare dilemmas and much more.

Hey lovely,

Jasmine here, Editor of Daily Rituals!

A slightly different start to our usual Wellness Dose, but here goes nothing.. This month, I'm opening up my diary for a limited number of consulting calls.

I've received SO many questions since launching Daily Rituals - whether it be about wellness product messaging & NPD, growing on socials, or simply getting a newsletter off the ground. With my experience growing my own brand plus my background as a corporate marketer who's looked after multi-million pound budgets, I figured I have some high-value advice to share (thank you F*ck Being Humble for the confidence boost). So, if you'd like an hour 1-2-1 to pick my brains and ideate, I'll leave the link here.

Quick PSA before we get into it - we've got less than 10 tickets remaining for our hot Pilates & brunch event on the 30th in collab with Move & Meet. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Enjoy xo

A Doc’s ultimate 12-month bridal skincare timeline

2025 & 2026 brides, listen up. In fact, anyone who just wants to glow up in the next year, this is for you too.

Let's get this out of the way - absolutely none of what you're about to read is necessary. But since the skincare industry isn't going anywhere and beauty standards continue to seep into our brains from all directions, most of us will likely continue to do a thing or two to feel our best.

That tends to go into overdrive when you hit your bridal era (albeit I wouldn't know, personally, as my significant other continues to make me impatiently wait...). There's pressure to look "perfect" with all eyes on you (let's be honest, no one really cares about the groom's suit) and of course, you're spending a small fortune on a day that will be documented for as long as you both shall live..

While there aren't many docs on socials we'd trust with our face, Dr. Ewoma is the exception to the rule. As well as being a human guinea pig for the rest of us when it comes to skincare treatments, she ran her own award-winning clinic prior to becoming one of the most popular docs online. Plus, she just says it how it is, and we have a lot of time for that. So, here's her 1-year bridal treatment plan:

★ 1 year until the big day:

  • Lock in your skincare routine with actives & prescriptives (yes, it could be time to get serious about Tretinoin or retinol)

  • Find a local practitioner/derm you actually trust - they'll help with the above. Plus, you'll be seeing them a fair bit, so make sure you vibe with them.

  • Invest in an LED device (Dr. Ewoma likes the Shark CyroGlow) & perhaps microcurrent like NuFace, if you'll use it.

★ 6-9 months until the big day:

  • It's time to start levelling things up. On the menu might be:

    • Ulthera and/or radio frequency for firming and jawline definition

    • Injectables (if that's your thing)

    • Cosmelan for tackling pigmentation

    • Clear & Brilliant for overall texture & fine lines

  • This is when Dr. Ewoma recommends starting monthly facials. The goal here, she suggests, is to minimise texture (everything else can in theory be left to your trusty MUA).

★ 3-1 months until the big day:

  • Keep up those monthly facials

  • Botox and any filler top-ups, if your treatment plan included them

  • Golden rule: the closer to your date, the more gentle your regimen should be - no intense peels & absolutely no experimenting with new products. You should be bored of this skincare routine by your wedding day.

★ A few weeks out:

  • Let your skin breathe - bare-faced days are your friend now

★ 1 week out:

  • Pause all retinoids & retinol unless you're going for a flaky dry look on the big day (didn't think so)

★ The big day:

  • Is getting a facial on your actual wedding day extra? Absolutely. But this entire regimen is exactly that, so we're noting it down! Dr. Ewoma recommends one with minimal exfoliation and maximum sculpting & hydrating before you go make everyone's jaw drop.

  • 🍦 The end of single-serve skincare? There's plenty of great things best enjoyed single-serve (ice cream certainly comes to mind), but skincare? TBD. Luxury single-serve brand Opulus (launched 2020) recently announced they're closing shop. If you're new to the brand, their concept was essentially a coffee machine for skincare - a device that heated up "pods" to create ultra-fresh single doses of actives. Their downfall? Margins were too tight on their signature device, which meant they were banking on pod replenishment that sadly never materialised. Although single-serve hasn't taken over the market (likely due to price & our dislike of overly wasteful packaging), one brand stands as the exception - Noble Panacea. With 6k monthly Google searches and a cult celebrity following, their ultra-luxe delivery system seems to be going nowhere.

  • 🌞 Blue skies calling: Varley's new "Tuscan Escape" collection has us checking flight prices to Europe, immediately. With muted tones & pieces that lean more everyday leisure than active, we've got our eye on this sleeveless knit (after seeing it styled here) and this twill nylon jacket that we'll throw over absolutely everything.

  • ✈️ Glow on the go: Glossier just dropped their carry-on approved Futuredew Solid - an oil-serum illuminator to enhance your post-beach glow while you're demolishing a bag of Lays. Heaven.

  • 😴 Time for bed: Not on the Oura ring hype yet? This app focuses on your "sleep debt" rather than sleep stages, and it works without a fitness tracker. While knowing exactly how much sleep we're missing each week sounds mildly terrifying, thousands of 5-star reviews have piqued our interest.

  • 👀 A new space: After four launches just last year, Third Space has announced plans to take over the House of Fraser store on Oxford Street. It’ll become one of their largest London locations, and this rate, they'll likely own half of London by 2030.

  • 📚 Required reading: When the industry that's supposed to help you be "well" turns its back on you when you're actually sick - something has to change. Dear all wellness practitioners, make sure you read this.

  • 🎯 Obsess, less: Your performance might actually improve when you're not hyper-focused on your main thing, according to this study. Nobel-prize winners typically have a range of interests (think scientists who take up piano lessons), and athletes who played multiple sports in college outperformed in later years. The takeaway? You're actually improving at your thing when you're busy learning entirely different skills.

  • 🐟 Don't skip your omegas: A three-year study showed omega-3 supplementation slowed biological aging by 4 months compared to the control group. If this effect remained consistent over time (& that’s a BIG if), it could lead to 3.3 years less biological aging over 30 years. Interestingly, the study used algae-based omegas like these - typically chosen for their purity and vegan-friendliness.

  • 🧴 Adios Sephora kids: A California bill has been introduced to ban the sale of anti-aging products to under-18s. Will it pass? Questionable (it's their second attempt). Will it actually solve anything? Unlikely. For Gen Alpha, skincare is a social currency - not having it makes you the odd one out. Think back to those weird jelly aliens we had way back when - they somehow became today's Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi drops. The issue isn't access, it's the worrying fact that many pre-teens think they need retinol in the first place.

  • 👏 Your easy high-protein hit: These 2-ingredient protein chips (or crisps for UK girlies) just earned a permanent spot on our snack list.
