Hey angels,
Back in your inbox after a brief two week hiatus - and wow, it was SO needed.
Last week I headed to Amsterdam and returned a fiancée (!!!). We also got to see Olivia Dean again which, as expected, was 10/10 and reminded me I need to book more live music events - nothing gives a dopamine hit quite like it.
Some Amsterdam reccs:
Recover - gorgeous healthy brunch spot
Elevate Coffee Lab - our fave coffee spot
Little Collins - bougie Aussie cafe (I had beef short rib for breakfast, which was a first)
Oliver Green - handy for a quick refuel of something healthy (acai, salad bowls, protein smoothies etc.)
Grammes - our favourite pâtisserie for some form of pistachio goodness

In other news, as promised on socials, I’m giving one of you this incredible PR gift from the team at Chloé (worth over £450) to celebrate some new additions to their Atelier Des Fleurs collection. Each scent immediately takes you to somewhere sun drenched, with light yet expensive-smelling notes that linger without overpowering. My current favourites are Sous Les Pins & Vert Soleil, which I’ve actually been layering (I’m not sure if that’s committing a crime as someone not so experienced in fragrance notes, but it smells damn good to me).

All you have to do to be entered is refer at least one new person to The Wellness Dose with your referral link in the next 14 days. Every new referral via your link is another entry.
Thanks again for your support in helping me grow Daily Rituals.
Let’s get into it.

The best stories & updates that caught our eye this week →
🧴 Everything is plastic: And Netflix says it's messing with our fertility in their latest documentary, The Plastic Detox. Scientist Shanna Swan follows 5 couples over 90 days to see if eliminating plastic and endocrine-disrupting chemicals from their lives can help them conceive. 3 of the 5 do. What's not mentioned is that Swan is also the co-founder of the plastic exposure test used throughout the programme, designed to help "improve your fertility." Make of that what you will - but bias aside, the science is still catching up and the goal here isn't a perfectly plastic-free life, it's lowering the load. Some of our favourite swaps: cook with stainless steel, cast iron or ceramic instead of Teflon, go fragrance-free when you next restock your laundry or cleaning products, heat food in glass instead of plastic, say “no thank you” to receipts and hot drinks in takeaway cups, and check your next beauty buys on an app like this.
🌸 Savour it: It's crazy to think that two people can have the exact same experience - an Olivia Dean concert, a dinner by the sea, a coffee catch up with your bestie - and one of them gets more from it emotionally, simply because they savour it. According to psychologist Bryant, to savour is to fully absorb the good moments, in anticipation ("I'm so excited for this trip"), in the moment ("I’m so glad we’re here"), and in reminiscing (“remember this picture?”). Every experience then, brings three possibilities to squeeze out extra joy. The problem? Modern life is the antithesis of savouring - we multitask, we're mentally in next week, our phones are attached to us and the current moment passes us by. So this week - notice the glimmers, express gratitude for them, take a mental note of your senses at the time (the smell, the light, the texture, the temperature) and be sure to tell someone about it too - even us!
✨ Are you beauty's new customer? Meet the "Optimizer" - according to BCG & WWD, she's predominantly millennial, affluent (over $100k household income) and spending around $3k a year on beauty. Sound familiar? For Optimizers, beauty isn't just makeup and skincare anymore - it's supplements, lasers, medical-grade treatments, anything that helps her feel as good as she looks. Strangely, brands don't seem to be building for her yet. Where's the brand with the perfect pink blush that pairs with a skin tone-enhancing supplement? The brand that takes your entire stack - topicals and ingestibles - and tells you exactly what you need based on your skin and health goals? While we wait, some current Optimizer-approved DR favourites: 10 minutes in front of our red light panel whilst meditating, taking our vagus nerve stimulator to nail appointments, and starting the day with clean electrolytes supercharged with NAC for a skin, liver & brain boost.
🏅 The games race: First it was CrossFit. Then Turf Games. Then HYROX. ATHX. METRIX. We could go on. The newest contender? The Pilates Games. Pilates girlies have long raged that there ought to be a competition to show off our skills, technique and frankly incredible posture - and now there is. A 100-minute (yes, 100) scored reformer workout launching across Studio Pilates' 130+ studios, designed to help participants track and benchmark their progress. Whilst it's currently just a one-day in-studio event, we're hopeful that in time reformers will take over huge event spaces à la HYROX (imagine the vibes, the activations?!). Even the longevity bros haven't been left out, thanks to the new Super Age Games - an Olympics of sorts for benchmarking against longevity markers across 8 trials in one day. But at $1,299 a ticket, we can't help but wonder if it tells you how well you're aging - or just how much disposable income you have..?

Everything on my “Don’t Buy” list right now
Wow, have I been scared to write this one.
For a few reasons. Firstly, I have so much respect for anyone that builds a brand - it's hard graft. Secondly, being completely transparent - sharing this list is a financial risk. The brands on it are clearly not going to be rushing to partner with Daily Rituals, and brand partnerships pay around 95% of my bills right now. That's okay - I'd make that trade every time. But to keep this space independent so I can write whatever I damn please, it depends on you, lovely reader.
So, this list is behind the paywall for Daily Rituals private members - the women building lives that feel well. I'd love to have you join us.
